Funny how things work. Having had basses both incarnations of Barts and LH3, my preferences in order are: Old Barts, LH-3, New Barts. But as Denchiq says, it all depends on what's on your plate. I tend to use different basses for different tones. I have a P5 (flats) and (on Monday) a J5 (strings TBD) to do their specific tones so I like to let the 55-94 (Light Nickels) be what it is. The tone from the old Barts fits so well with the stuff we do. Our guitarist says that it's snappy when it needs to be and solid the rest of time.

Doesn't mean I won't swap 'em out someday...:hiding:

Hey Grateful that's why I always say Baskin Robbins has 31 flavors of ice cream....everybody likes (and hears) something different. Thanks for you input.

My new to me Darryl Jones w. Nordstrand PJ5 PUs:

I traded this one for my brand new LOG2010 (RW/Nordstrand) which was way to aggressive/trebley to my ears. :hiding:

Now, the DJPJ has the same Nordie PU, the same wood combo as the 55-64, but has a lot more oomph, wether selecting the P PU, the J, or both.

Hey, awesome thread so far! hopefully if I get accepted into my college (will find out March 15th) I'm going to order a Lakland 44-60 skyline custom! (blocks and binding with metallic teal and matching headstock)

Yeah, the pink (coral) P/J is becoming a "JJ's Customs" creation :-D. It appears that older Laklands had neck heel dimensions that match Fender specs, where as the newer necks are slightly narrower at the heel.

My coral bass will have a vintage tint all birdseye neck and fretboard (picked the wood myself), stainless tiny vintage size frets, Tele stock w/ longstem rev wind Hipshots, LH neo P and J pickups, BAIII bridge, not sure about the pickguard yet. May sport a bridge cover.

Gotcha. Did you trade the neck in, or was it like that when you got it?

What? Say it ain't so! Sounds great otherwise, I don't know about that defective bridge, though.;)

Yeah Greg.... BAIII. It allows string thru (after I did some mods---- Lakland's holes aren't straight up n down like the basses the BAIII was built for). All in all, it's been a fun build, just waiting on the neck... should be a couple more months, maybe sooner if I'm lucky. I currently have an unfinished mighty mite neck on her. She sounds great!

She'll look much better w/ the vintage tint BEM neck...
