This is the bass...gonna be challenging to find a pickguard...I'm leaning toward a white pearloid or maybe an "abalone" like guard but it'd have to have the right "shade" in it
I'm with the no guard vote!

I say no guard, but if you had to, it would be white pearloid IMO.

@ Roadkill...thanks for the laugh
Truth is, I had a beautifully figured cherry sunburst w Barts and a BEM fingerboard that was stolen out of my home...

SoundSupport said:Hey peeps.
It's been months, possibly years, nay decades, since I've posted on here...
Just wanted to give you all a heads up: I'm playing at a church worship service out here in scotland which will be availiable online after on Uplift Radio - Positive Thinking Online RadioUplift Radio, so check in on monday.
What's this got to do with you? It's a Lakland Darryl Jones, which hasn't been mentioned in (I think) the last THREE Lakland threads; and I put brand new Rotosound steels on it yesterday.
Also, I run direct into the PA system, no amp of my own, so I guess this'll be the definitve answer to how well it sits in a mix. Can't wait to listen back to it!
Cheers, SoundSupport
I have an addition to the family. I have been a devout Skyline user ever since I bought my 55-01 in 2002. With that being said, this 4-94 is amazing. Everyone said that the necks are magic. They're right.

Hello Fellow Laklanders,
A couple of us are trying to muster up some interest in a possible run of 2012 LOG basses, please head on over to the Link Removed and take a look. If interested add your name to the sign-up petition. That is all.
Kinetic Shadow said:a) I understand about the "Custom" point you are trying to make, but how is it marketing BS if it's designed by LOG members for LOG members?
b) The last LOG bass had 5 strings
It's still up in the air a bit on the blocks, personally I'm leaning towards black pearl.
Kinetic Shadow said:Apologies, my mistake. But yes it is based on the 44-64 Custom, because of the J neck.
Agreed, the black pearl would work well for both the ebony and maple - looks fantastic on my MIA deluxe J. I actually have a black Lakland bridge coming from Hipshot soon for my 44-02, so will know for certain soon as to how it the blackness is achieved.

Kinetic Shadow said:Thank you for the info and support but it looks like she's already dead in the water. I can see why it was tough to get the first one off the ground - way too many cooks in the kitchen![]()

Kinetic Shadow said:Thanks, not giving up, just stepping back a little and taking stock. The Doude presented the challenge and being who I am, I took it up - probably too soon without knowing more about the restrictions on materials, "clone-ability" factor, process, etc. I would like to do a 4-string this time around, but there seemed to me more resistance than acceptance initially. At this point, I'm kicking around a few more concepts that would make this hopefully next LOG bass not just another 2010 in a different color as was pointed out. Head on over to Link Removed for the latest.
Cool. I don't think I would buy a four string now, but I think the LOG bass needs to be a four string this time around. Lots of folks could not buy the last edition because it was 5-strings.
