Uuuugh! Man, the thought of someone totally unwelcome pawing through my stuff creeps me the hellz out. I'm sorry to hear that you lost a pretty bass that way.

Hey peeps.

It's been months, possibly years, nay decades, since I've posted on here...

Just wanted to give you all a heads up: I'm playing at a church worship service out here in scotland which will be availiable online after on Uplift Radio - Positive Thinking Online RadioUplift Radio, so check in on monday.

What's this got to do with you? It's a Lakland Darryl Jones, which hasn't been mentioned in (I think) the last THREE Lakland threads; and I put brand new Rotosound steels on it yesterday.

Also, I run direct into the PA system, no amp of my own, so I guess this'll be the definitve answer to how well it sits in a mix. Can't wait to listen back to it!

I have an addition to the family. I have been a devout Skyline user ever since I bought my 55-01 in 2002. With that being said, this 4-94 is amazing. Everyone said that the necks are magic. They're right.

Same here. I've had a 44-02 for a while and I really liked it. So much so, that I also picked up a 4-94 and, like you said, there is something about that neck. My 4-94 is fast on its way be being my go-to bass.

Hello Fellow Laklanders,

A couple of us are trying to muster up some interest in a possible run of 2012 LOG basses, please head on over to the Link Removed and take a look. If interested add your name to the sign-up petition. That is all.

Nope, for two reasons:

a) I won't ever buy an off-the-shelf model of anything with 'Custom' in the model name. It's marketing BS.

b) Missing a string.

That being said, that is some hottt stealth magic. Especially the ebony board. What will the blocks be made of?

a) I understand about the "Custom" point you are trying to make, but how is it marketing BS if it's designed by LOG members for LOG members?

b) The last LOG bass had 5 strings :)

It's still up in the air a bit on the blocks, personally I'm leaning towards black pearl.

Oh, I wasn't whining about the LOG aspect. I was ragging on the 44-64 Custom aspect. Or am i wrong about which P it's based on?

Yeah, I couldn't get onto the last LOG bass for a variety of reasons. I still think it's a sweet axe, though.

I think your idea of making the blocks black pearl is right on. It'll be enough of a change from ebony to make it stand out, and will look pure sex against maple.

Would the black bridges be anodised?

Kinetic Shadow said:
Apologies, my mistake. But yes it is based on the 44-64 Custom, because of the J neck.

Agreed, the black pearl would work well for both the ebony and maple - looks fantastic on my MIA deluxe J. I actually have a black Lakland bridge coming from Hipshot soon for my 44-02, so will know for certain soon as to how it the blackness is achieved.

Well, you can check my pictures of a black Lakland bridge here:

It has a matte black finish, which matches the black in the tuners. That's why I also went for the matte pickguard and the matte knobs (like the Roger Waters signature), that I still haven't found.

Now for the options that are being considered for this new LOG Bass... Don't want to burst anyone's bubble, but let's not forget that it is supposed to be a Skyline, which limits quite a bit the materials. For example, there are no Hipshot LIC black tuners or black Skyline bridges. And the black pearl would also be hard to happen in Indonesia. With the addition of US made hardware and installation, you might be looking at a price tag that will be a bit unpopular, especially for a P-bass. We had a hard time getting enough people for last year's LOG bass, and it was rock bottom cheap.

But congrats for the initiative. We definitely need people like you in the LOG!

Thank you for the info and support but it looks like she's already dead in the water. I can see why it was tough to get the first one off the ground - way too many cooks in the kitchen :)

A bass is something very personal, I guess. But I also think it's too early to call it quits (three days?). You need to dial down the options to something technically feasible on Skylines, and let people get used to the model ideas. I first heard of the 2010 LOG Bass in March 2010, and did not care for it at all. It took 7 months for it to grow on me and I jumped on it. Need to be patient.

I personally like the Mockup/Photoshop. All three Lakland's in my stable are 4-strings. Therefore, it'd be right at home.

Marcel illuded to an important hindering factor moving forward from the LOG2010 model... the next bass must be 30 cloned units. As I recall, that includes the necks. Of course pickup options may still be an option. I seriously doubt there'd be a 4-String and 5-String option without 60 (minimum) confirmed orders with commitments.

As for black hardware, I don't see that being an issue. With 30 confirmed buyers, I see no reason why Lakland USA could not order the 30+ (including prototypes) sets and ship them to Indo for installation there or wait for them to arrive and either swap them out or maybe have them installed here in USA.

Could possibly have a "2012 LOG Event" where trained LOGers install the hardware in efforts to reduce costs as a project.

There are options. You just need to hang in there. Create an xls spreadsheet with all comments to get an idea of the options the folks would want/support most. Once that's ironed out, deposits could begin. Let's that group make the final build options. Then, step two deposits or finalize payments.

Very cool concept by the way!

Thanks, not giving up, just stepping back a little and taking stock. The Doude presented the challenge and being who I am, I took it up - probably too soon without knowing more about the restrictions on materials, "clone-ability" factor, process, etc. I would like to do a 4-string this time around, but there seemed to me more resistance than acceptance initially. At this point, I'm kicking around a few more concepts that would make this hopefully next LOG bass not just another 2010 in a different color as was pointed out. Head on over to Link Removed for the latest.

Cool. I don't think I would buy a four string now, but I think the LOG bass needs to be a four string this time around. Lots of folks could not buy the last edition because it was 5-strings.
