Czech Republic - aside from shipping costs themselves, 24% import duty makes shipping unfeasible, so forking out an extra $450 as baggage and packing it up like crazy along with my Fodera.

Hello Lakland owners! I recently sold my Skyline Bob Glaub (mistake) and am dying to get another Lakland. I'm going through a Jazz bass phase and am seriously eyeballing the Skyline 44-60.

I'm currently playing two Fender Jazz' one being a Geddy Lee. Is the 44-60 an upgrade? Also in regards to the pickups. Does Lindy Fralin wind the single coils for Lakland or are they their own? Thanks fella's for any help.

My take is, yes it is an upgrade from the geddy lee. I have had both at the same time. The geddy is nice, but the 44-60 was much easier to play. To me, sounded better too. I'm sure others will disagree. Its just my take.

As for the p/u's, no fralin does not make their p/u's. They are actually made by hanson pickups. You can get it with fralins if you ask. To me, there is not a big difference between the two.

Considering adding a pickguard to my Lakland 55-94....just a "tape on" but since it's a Tealburst finish, I'm sure it'll be tough to find a good match

I've tried looking for pickguard websites and came up empty...

Are there any that might show a variety of colors/types that'd match a Lakland?

Thanks TB

I think a 44-60 is an upgrade.....the neck profiles are different though....the 44-60 (though narrow) is not as narrow as the Geddy The 44-60 fits me better. although I like P necks better...and Lakie 5er necks the best of all!

As stated, Hanson makes their own pickups for the Lakies...you CAN get Fralins and ther is a difference IMO..

which one are you looking at? one of the teals or the white trans? or another one???

good luck!

you can either go to:

jeannies pickguards (Roger made most of the pick gaurds for Lakland at one point)

email [email protected] Lakland does have replacement guards and can "custom cut" ones if you want a specific color

what color are you thinking?

This is the bass...gonna be challenging to find a pickguard...I'm leaning toward a white pearloid or maybe an "abalone" like guard but it'd have to have the right "shade" in it
