If weight is a consideration, these are not regarded as light-weight (which I think of as 8 down)

I think they vary some. Mine feels light to me when I grab it...at least certainly not heavy. It's very noticeably lighter than my 55-02D and a tad lighter than my Brute.

I don't have an accurate scale, but I get somewhere right around 9 lbs for mine.

Here is my new Skyline 44-64 in the limited edition color, Inca Silver.

Lakland's and Sadowskys, eh? You and I have similar tastes (hollow body notwithstanding), but judging by your sweet NYC Sadowsky on that thread, totally dissimilar incomes.

OK ... so I just pulled the trigger on a 55-01 said it was 9lbs which is the same or lighter than my Yamaha 425... so I'm cool with that weight.... Pictures when it arrives... but it's just like on the Lakland site.....

Thanks for the tip.... as long as it doesn't weigh 11.5lbs like the Diamond P 5 custom Schecter I had... that Bass kicked in the Bursitis... I played the Yamaha last night and it was fine after 3 hours......

I'm starting to get the "I'm excited" worms.... I can't wait!!

Definitely replace the stock knobs and you'll save close to a pound of weight... I got my replacements for my 44 and 55-01s from Allied Electronics. The ones I got were plastic/bakelite, but they also have aluminum options. Here's a link to get you started. Make sure to measure the shaft size before deciding on any knobs. Also, some folks like the Sadowsky knobs (very similar to these).

I would call a few dealers and ask teh weights...they will be helpful (especially the guys at Bass Central and Mark at Chicago bass exchange!)

I weighed them. It's closer to a quarter pound. Not significant, but it's something. I think you can feel it. Soft Touch knobs from BestBassGear look good (IMO/YMMV/void where prohibited and not valid with other offers) and I like 55-94/02 knobs.

Yeah... 1/4 pound sounds more like it. I'll learn not to guess weights when I'm sleepy. haha. Either way, it makes a difference.

I just picked up this 2006 US 44-64 and it simply kills, the neck is 1.5 jazz taper and may be the most comfortable neck I have ever played-(dare I say that as an owner of 2 Sadowskys?)
I am getting a Lindy Fralin PUP put in soon and then it will be P bass heaven.
I am loving it so far and although this is my first Lakland, it will not be my last.
Grant me entrance to your club por favor.
