And yes as it ended up, you are right.
I had NO idea I would be getting my first Lakland.
Was not the plan at all honestly.
Was planning on buying a 5th Stingray :)

Looks like we both have Holiday basses en route :) ho ho ho :bassist:

When I got my Lakland, i wasn't really expecting to lay my money down. I found the body shape to be kinda inelegant, and the headstock's 3+2 arrangement was something I'd never seen before. But the bass was so comfy and made such nice noise that I ordered one on the spot.

PS: judging by your name, I take it you're of the, uh... Photographic persuasion?

EDIT: just checked your profile, so I got my answer. Heh. Also, our tastes in basses are pretty different, but your equipment list has a whole lot of respectable workhorses on it. Nice.

Yep been a pro working full time photog for 25 long years now.
Cool job more times than not :)
I am a little bit here and there with the basses I have collected.
I have had musicman as the bulk of it.
But if I like this Lakland, that could change at some point :D ???

Tber's,

Looking for a 5502 D to buy! If you know where I can find one let me know. I'm going down to just a couple of basses since my gigging days have come to a hault. Although will be subbing in here and there. Just need 1 good 5 string . The Lakie fits the bill.

Had to bite the bullet and give this Lakland stuff a go.
Already looking into a US Decade. ( yep, darn G.A.S.)
THAT is the Lakland I really want.
But this one will be an awesome intro to the brand.

That's a freaky name for a bass bro :eyebrow:
I still have your Stealth Stingray.
No plans on letting that one out of the stable.
No matter what basses get rolled to obtain these Laklands.
The Stingrays are staying right here :D

i LOVE them!! a good solid warm nickel roundwound tone.
and the part i love about them is that they are, IMO, the roundwound equivalent of flats. what i mean is this: with flats, once you put them on, they're good to go. nice and thumpy from day 1, and they don't really die.
Same with the Super Alloys. I had a set on the Decade for a year, and they sounded almost exactly the same as they did when i first put them on. Nice roundwound grind and harmonics, solid fundamental.
Granted, no upper register zing as with steel, but i never dug steel anyways.

OK, I am in for now. My 2006 DJ5. Nothing new or special here but no pics, no bass, right? It is lovely though. Aero pickups. First impressions were A) fairly wide neck, B) fairly small frets & C) it's an interesting maple fingerboard. Grain so subtle it looks almost artificial. But it's all real, of course. D) tuners are really very good for a 'licensed' product. Hard to discern from the US version. Gonna take a little time to tweak the setup to see if I can get it where I like it. So far though, so good.

Yes it was and thank you. It's my first Lakland and I wanted to see what they were all about. These DJ models looked so good it was a perfect time to jump in. Gotta have a tort guard though to complete the look I like.

Three Laklands in three months over the summer. I'm right there with you. As others in this thread know, I'm coveting a P/J modded Glaub/5-64, among other things. And there will be no offloading any of the three that I have; they all have their place, and all play great. 2012 is right around the corner, too. :ninja:
