I agree on this point, though the bass I have it in does have aftermarket Nordstrand dual coils. Everyone I play this bass for comments on it's tone. Now I just have to decide whether to put a FC in my fretless or fretted 55-02 (the MM-J variant). I'm leaning fretless...

And I corrected the post. I was SO happy that the fix was that easy. It's quiet as can be now. Thanks, Mike!

This is a very common oversight with basses with side jacks. So when you mentioned it, I knew right away what it probably was. And it was easy to fix too!

Thanks, guys. I used to only like the Amber and Cherryburst finishes on the 55 series for some reason, but wanted the JO and DJ for the more vintage look. Then one day the Sunburst finish on the 55-02's just clicked for me and I started gassing really bad for one. Even though this is a Skyline, I worked closely with Grasshopper at Bass Central and Lakland, and this one was assembled because of it's weight and top. I wanted something light without being ultra light (this one is a hair over 9 lbs...perfect), and the top isn't too zingy nor is it too dull. It's perfect.

Glad to see the DJ's back in the line up though! :D

Hey Lakland guys! I posted in the wanted section and on the LOG forums but thought I would throw a net out here as well. I am on the lookout for a LPB/Rosewood Skyline Glaub with no jazz pickup and 1.75" width neck. If anyone has one or can help me out that would be great.

I am also thinking that maybe a used US Glaub with alder body/rosewood/1.75" neck would be an option for me so I anyone can point me in that direction that would be great.

I have been trying to post in the LOG forums more but it still acts very slow for me and I get frustrated with slowness easily. I will update my supporting status soon though.

I just picked up a Lakland Skyline Joe Osborn 4, and I'm curious about something related to the controls.

According to the Lakland site, the Skyline 44-60 (which I assume has same specs as Joe Osborn) has controls that are Volume/Volume/Tone, while the US made has Passive Model Concentric (Stacked Knobs) Volume/Tone-Volume/Tone.

Mine, though, has Passive Model Concentric (Stacked Knobs) Volume/Tone-Volume/Tone.

The neck is clearly Skyline, with the optional hipshot-D tuner.

So should I assume that mine is a Skyline modified with stacked knobs? Or is it possibly a US-made body with a Skyline neck?

Aside from detaching the neck from the body, is there any way to determine if it's US-made, Skyline, or something else altogether?

It certainly plays, feels and sounds like a Lakland. My guess, as of now, is that it was simply modified.

Yes, I can ask the owner (who is not on TB, as far as I know). But I'd like to see what the Lakland experts here think, first.

BTW. If you get back into the office after the holidays and see a call from a 514 area code number but no message, that was me calling to wish you a happy holidays, then realising that it was your office number and hanging up before the voicemail answered.

More than likely a skyline with stacked knob controls. Easy way to tell is the serial. Umber application. Black numbers..skyline. Indented wood punched numbers US.

This is my first Lakland.
I have to say: WHAT WAS I WAITING FOR????????
This thing plays like a dream and will blow down walls...WOWOWOW!
I truly love it and cannot wait to roll some basses to buy my U.S. Decade next...hahaha!!

And big thanks to Markus for pushing me into buying my first Lakland. :D
