Nice! Bass Club's a great store, Mark is a cool guy to deal with. Next time you plan to come up this way, contact Lakland and set up a time to stop by! They're all great folks there, and the shop isn't far from Bass Club's new digs.

I wish I lived closer, so I could check out the Lakland digs..
Maybe one day I will book some work in Chi town and go pay a visit.

You should, Dan--risks be damned.:D We'll get some deep-dish.

ahhhh good ole chi town deep dish....and a few frosty pints of ale...
and of course a tour of the Lakland facility.....sounds awesome Greg!

Truly a kick butt weekend for sure.
I will have to do some promotion in Chicago this spring and see if I can't muster up some bookings and maybe teach a workshop as well.

That way it is a "business trip" and not just a good way to blow money....( can stay married that way ) ummm I think? LMAO :hiding:

gotta love it :)

We should try to time it out and put it together for like May or June...I can promote my being there in Chicago and take bookings and sell tickets to a workshop. All about making the advance plans bro...

Hard for me with some bigger clients because lots of things come up like ads, packaging, etc. but I'll see what I can do!

Love that finish. I ended up about halfway between that and cherryburst when I photoshopped a more ideal finish onmy 55-02. Cherryburst is redder than I like sometimes, but I don't know if I'd ever have it refinished.

yeah I agree with you on that tobacco quilt, it's just the right amount of burst.. I'm gonna see how my flame natural finish goes on my soon to be arriving 44-07, and miiiight get the flame refinished in a tobacco or root beer burst.. not a big fan of the standard natural finishes, but I was not gonna pass up on the sale.. meh it might grow on me lol.. anyone had experience with the flame finishes on laky's? I assume they select really detailed maple for the cap.

B&H Rules!

Hey Hess, is that an SR600 there I see in your stable? Had that exact model not that long ago.

And Happy New Year all!

Yes...and yes! My very first bass. Now tuned cello - CGDA - for arranging (my wife's the cellist). Fingerings for fifths tuning are more challenging. We hope to have some of Steve's new material recorded live by the early spring, with me on bass and her playing my cello arrangements. Much lakland will be in effect. :)

I also have a SR405 whose pre I need to reinstall. Once I do, the used market being what it is, I think i am going to donate it to a local music program.

Hey man, we need time this Chi town trip...and head there at that same time to catch Greg for brews and pizza and bass blaaabing.
See ya there! hahaha!

A GTG in the second city would be fantastic. Though I am more of a Chicago italian beef sandwich guy. If we did a meet up, we need to go play Whirlyball. :)

Yeah, the cherryburst on my 44-02 is very red and the yellow is even too much too, but it's definitely prettier in person than in photographs. I am not a fan of bursts, for the most part, but tobacco burst is my preference if I had to choose.

At some point I might trade my cherryburst for something more, ah, visually tame. Since it is a stock skyline, I have a good chance of finding something comparable. The 55-02 does fill a slot in my tone spectrum that I do not plan to go without.
