Lakland Owners Group #53

May I please have a number for this august group? My Lakland Skyline Hollowbody arrived yesterday:
Nice, congrats! Those trans-red HBs are hot, I've seen'em up close. Send a PM to basspraiser for a number (he's traveling right now, so be patient). And check out Link Removed for more info, discussion and augustosity.;)

Nice! Bass Club's a great store, Mark is a cool guy to deal with. Next time you plan to come up this way, contact Lakland and set up a time to stop by! They're all great folks there, and the shop isn't far from Bass Club's new digs.

I'll have to do that. I'm planning to be up that way sometime in the spring assuming that Florida doesn't freeze into an iceburg before then. Thanks for the tip.

They MAY be offering t-shirts again....it has been a while.

w are trying to figure out a cost effective way to offer teh various LOG shirts again...MAYBE....

"run down the street nek'd?"...you need a LOG sticker strategically placed...

If I ran down the street nekkid, I'll be they'd send me a t-shirt so they'd never have to see that again. LOLOL. But seriously, I'd drop $20 - $25 on a Lakland t-shirt.

I second that, I'd drop 20-30.. but then I'd also have to pay for shipping over here.. meh, worth it :)

just fer giggles, here's a comment from a local music store guy when I was checking out new strings for my "soon to be with me" 4-07 today.

"Lakeland? I think it's pronounced Lak.. land. It's a european brand right? isn't Lapland in scandanavia?"

yes.. yes he was serious :rollno:

yeah it's fun city with ignorant music store guys, while looking at a streamer the same one tried to convince me once that 'warwick' was pronounced 'war.. wick'.. not 'wah..rick' lol the guitar tech there corrected him, I was this close to saying "actually I think it's pronouced.. spec.. tor" lol

Hey all, I'm thinking of getting a few mods done to my 07. Been watching the friedland LOG vids, and saw his blurb on the passive tone control and figured that might be a good addition, but what about something like a phase switch as well? I use effect pedals, for various envelope, drive, octave, fuzz and overdrive tones, so I figure a phase switch may come in handy for these. Anyone installed one in a 07 or a 94? Or maybe you can think of another addition to the controls. Fire when ready hehe :D

I have that Passive tone control on my 44-07. It is the chrome knob , ya can see in the pics of mine. It was installed by Lakland at the factory.
I honestly have not had time to fiddle with the zillion knobs this thing has yet. With the holiday maddness and my business to run. I will play it a bot more now that the new year has rolled over and I can be a bit more sane. But the knob sure looks purdy sitting there in the middle of the bass....HAHAHAH!! :p

see there is the chrome passive tone knob chillin in the middle of the others...

Had guests over on New Years eve and they all flipped over M'Falice's sparkly paintjob... way more than any other bass.

And sorry... the 44-02 deluxe IS getting it's quilt covered up. Its just a skyline after all and nothing beats a Marty Bell finish. Btw, my Ray is featured in his gallery pics :-).

oh come on"just a skyline"????? many people would KILL for a top as nice as that!!!!

maybe a trans top???

yeah, I figured that might happen.. whoops gonna edit now..

and considering I'm in hobbitland (new zealand) that's one hell of a 'long distance' pizza order. "can I get a deep dish pepperoni with sausage.. address?.. mount doom" lol :D

yup...would be an expensive trip!!!! cheaper for you to come to Chicago so GregC and I can treat you to some "fresh"...besides....it is MUCH better that way!!! "hobbitland".....he he LOVE IT!!! I cannot wait for the Hobbit to come out...LOVED the books....loved the movies as well!

might just do that, then I can be a jerk and wear a lakland shirt on stage while playing my lakland lol "yeah kid, that's an ibanez" lol

Just got my second lakland, a black skyline 55-01 (used).
serial #04021403. I'm floored, at under 600 bucks with case this is the best bass per dollar i've owned in 30+ years of playing. The 35" scale doesn't bother me at all, I actually picked this up to rehabilitate my left hand which changed drastically after some therapy- need to get the stretch between middle and ring finger back. Total monster tone, it's like a piano.
I'm seriously impressed!

NOYCE!!!! as I have said MANY times....least expensive DOES NOT mean "cheap".....glad you like it......

That's the trouble, not sure exactly what I want at this point - although I'm almost 100% sure it will be a fretless Lakland.

Here's a couple of mockups I threw together this evening. I'm going back in forth in my head between a 4-Chi or a PJ with Delano large pole pickups.

Could use some input regarding the configuration, perhaps an impromptu LOG poll. And yes it will be all black

Brain:

1) LOVE the new avatar...I KNEW you could not stay away and would be hooked

2) CHI it baby!!! one day I want a CHI'd fretless....JUST like yours only 5 strings.....somehtiung magical about hem CHI-humbuckers...and fretless? Oh my!!!

see there is the chrome passive tone knob chillin in the middle of the others...

yep that's pretty much what I am after, gonna get the local luthiers to drop one in.. as long as they don't get too confused with the circuit that is lol.. hence why I thought I might see what other ways I might be able to trick up the controls.

might see if they think stripping back the gloss is a good option too, throw some oil or laquer on that bod fer a satin finish mmm silky lol
