Hehe, steady on, Dan! Hands on the rudder, stay the course and all that.:D It's difficult, if I have one practce where I'm not terribly happy with a particular piece of gear, I start dreaming of alternatives. Usually, the next practice takes care of that, though.:)

For me, passive basses just do the trick. I feel as if they're more touch-sensitive, whereas pres feel like they're holding me back some. But different strokes and all that...

Ya know, you are a wise man my friend.
Both of those make very good sense.
And it is not so much I dislike either of them.
As much as I grow bored easily I guess.
And like change.
Kinda the "been there done that" Syndrome

Then along comes something I GAS for and BAM!
The ole overly active brain kicks into high gear....hahaha!! :ninja:

I DO hear ya loud and clear about the passive attribute vs what Active has to bring to the table.
And agree totally.
I guess I find myself playing more on the aggressive side more often. And the active lends to that style best.
But then along comes one of those laid back kinda moods and the passive suits that vibe best.

My passive Dark Starred US HB pretty much fits that need the best of all.

Lol, I know not everyone in the LOG are believers, and I'm totally cool w/ that... to each his/her own, I love my Lakland-lover brethren no matter what their beliefs.... except Democrats!!! They should DIE!!! Just kidding HAHA.

But---- it's my belief that every note we play is for God. He/She is a music lover IMO and I am grateful for my talents.... and striking GOOD looks of course. Cause I am DEAD SEXY BABY, YEAH!!!

Well, *I* heard there was a secret chord that David played and it pleased the Lord.

;)

Not much of a believer, myself. I don't really make a point of trying to convince anyone though, I'm not smart enough to know for sure one way it the other.

But if you don't like Democrats, you'd prolly hate my NDP-voting ways. Though I guess an international boundary between us kinda makes the whole thing moot. Heh...

[sheepish grin]

I actually had a brief moment of thought about letting go of the US one of firemist passive single coil chi Decade AND the US one of sonic blue DJ with passive bucker chi's and BEM board and using the $4,000 to order this SWEEEEEET active 44-94 in drop dead custom Buckeye Burl top! I Love that thing, WOW!

1st bass down...

Very nice indeed!

I'm diggin' the "Buckeye Burl" top for sure.

Is that black chrome hardware - at least for the bridge?

Thinking it is chrome man.
I bet in the other pics of it, it would show it's chrome.

Laklands never come with black hardware do they?
Never seen one.

They really should make black hardware an option.
I mean for the price ya pay for these things, why not.
A stealth all black 44-94 would be pretty sweet with a marker less ebony board.
And maybe even some black chrome frets? WHOA!!!
Black Bart? you reading this brotha? LMAO :)

I don't think that black hardware would work against that top. Against spalted maple, it'd be wicked, though...

I am loving the &^%$# out of the Stealth I got from ya.
And would LOVE a Stealth Lakland at some point in this lifetime.

I Just scored a great ticket to see JANES ADDICTION in an intimate 2,800 seat Theater venue this friday night!

Well shucks, Dan, I don't know that I'm all that wise. Doug can probably tell you about many times I have talked out selling/trading.buying scenarios with him, yet never gone through with.:D I'm either too lazy or too busy with other stuff, but inaction has often been my friend, lol.

That's cool, whatever works for you. I can get growly digging into my P bass with steel strings. When I want/need to get really aggressive, out comes the pick.:bassist:

I hear ya.
This is a very personal taste kinda thing.
That is what makes playing bass awesome.
I always enjoy listening to many bass player styles.
And enjoy messing around with a number of styles as well.
The more aggressive finger style is more my thing usually.
Have not picked up a pick since maybe mid 80's :D

Me too.... picks (no offense to anyone) make me feel like one of those whimpy guitarists. Nevertheless, I occasionally use one but can't really play well w/ it. Right hand muting is a problem.
