As I'm thinking about putting together an order for a USA 44-60, I wanted to ask a question... are the pickups single coil or are they hum-canceling? Meaning, if I solo the bridge pickup will there be hum?
I played one at Bass Club Chicago last year but there was an electrical issue and *everything* hummed so I have no idea! Loved the bass though, it felt great.

I'm confused. Lakland was selling shirts and hats on its site?
Not Lakland per se, but there is now lots of LOG logo stuff on Cafe Press, you ill find the link on the LOG site.
Oh sure, I know about the LOG stuff--Doug, John and I decided on the Cafe Press move.
I thought these fellas were talking about Lakland itself, since the LOG is of course a separate entity, and also because the Cafe Press link for the LOG works fine. Maybe they missed the announcement thread on the board. I'll link it here: Link Removed

Once the Modulus gets here, the next bass I'm thinking about is a Lakland PJ with a Jazz neck, dare say it would be custom?

You could always make your own body, but then again I suspect you might be as good with power tools as you are with electronics.
I mean it just seams like you're lusting after the top on that body and I would question rolling two Laklands just for the sake of a different kind of wood.

Dang... Took my 55-60 to rehearsal yesterday. I never use it at my 90's coverband (always take the Celinder or the Blade) but yesterday I noticed that the Lakland works éverywhere. There are Elixirs on the bass now and they work great... Whát a bass. It's amazing.

Since Tat2dheart started it, I gotta show my kids-n-laklands...

Ha! I just added up the cost of my gear, I wish I could be classified as frugal! Maybe compared to you, Dan or Markus!

they are single coils...BUT I think you can talk to JP and/or Bo about split coils.....I THINK the AJs are split coil....

I don't think the Skyline AJ's are split. The one's I've laid my hands on were not bucking hum.
Yes, that was my experience when I played the Skyline and USA AJ's. The Skyline hummed like crazy and the USA was dead quiet.
So in theory, I could get a passive 44-60 with the hum canceling Vintage J's they use in the AJ's and that would do the trick?

It is interesting the amount of variation between the overall fitment of PickGuards of Skyline and US models as shown. Is the PG on the US model stock or after market? The DPLEII PG seems to follow the lower horn/body outline slightly better than the PG on the US model. Like the reveal of white looks more consistent in width along the perimeter.
Then again, this could simply be the angle the photo was taken.
