You could also want to consider the John East J-Retro, super easy to installNo soldering and is active/passive.

Bummer it was changed along it's ownership.
But it does sound amazing as it is.

And then maybe leave the US sonic blue Darryl Jones with Chi buckers passive and as is.
Hmmm, wouldn't making the Decade active require routing? It's an easy fit to get a pre into the DJ.
Having owned a Decade myself with passive Chibuckers, I woul prefer a pre with those and keeping the single coil Chis passive. But YMMV.

Saw a cool interview with him talking about this.
That guy was amazing.

Decades are rear routed like 4-94s and 4-07s, should need no routing at all. Actually, I have found that squeezing preamps in J basses is usually tight squeezes, since they typically are only front routed.

As JJ noted, no mods needed on the Decade, plenty of room in the cavity for the classic or whatever.
On the DJ the classic wouldn't fit both the brain & battery in the cavity even with the mini pots Audere uses, so I had a battery compartment installed.
If you go with the Audere JZ3 you need to specify that it's for a DJ as it's said that they're slightly curved for the DJ's plate.
Also the placement of the toggle switch is key to it fitting in the cavity w/o modding that as well.

My DJ began life from the factory as Active.
So I already have a Drop in Battery compartment in the back of the bass. It is like yours only they placed it just above where the strings go through the body.
I plan to call the Audere company to go over the two basses with them and blaaab a bit.

hey is there any way to get a custom neck for a lakland? i got a jo5 with a maple neck/board and i want some binding and blocks to tie it all togeather! and on a side note are duncan quarter pounders active or passive?
I have a few Skyline Decade questions. Are the blocks plastic on that? I don't think they are plastic on the Skyline DJ but I am unsure about the Decade.
Also do the US Decades have the same knobs as the Skyline? Some photos have them the same and others look like they have Fender style chrome knobs.

I believe they're plastic, but they sure look good on both the Skyline Decades & DJ's!
My US Decade came with the jazz knobs, but didn't care for them, so those got swapped out in a hurry.
