You've got me beat- I only got to see Bon twice.
But one of those shows was at the Arrogant Brawlroom when they opened for Thin Lizzy.
Yep. It RAWKED.
Funny how they opened for Thin Lizzy.
And also funny how Rush opened for AC/DC.
The best opening act I ever saw was:
JOURNEY = Headliner
MONTROSE/GAMMA = Middle band
VAN HALEN = opener?????
Van Halen was on their first tour with VH1.
They barely had any stage to perform on, due to the other bands massive gear.
Very small intimate venue, seated like 2,800? ...Palace theater, NY.
I pushed my way to front row on the railing in front of Eddie.
Watched all the cool LED's flashing on that red & White Frankenstrat he made. SO COOL!
After the VH opening set ( The entire first album ) People started leaving. By the time Journey were 3-4 songs into their set half the place had left....hahaha!! go figure?

Nah...I just major SUCKED at it....I still Suck at Geddy but I do it on a much nicer series of basses....

I recall him playing those live at the 80's shows doing "Bythor and the snowdog". ...KILLER Stuff!
Man, pixies.. I hope they come over here.. I saw em back to back with kim's breeders.. such a good show
to tell the truth I'm pretty sure the only one who doesn't suck at geddy is geddy
I remember when metallica played a set here a while back, and segued into tom sawyer.. newsted missed many notes, kinda painful lol

Well...kinda.....but it fits in the overall feel of the music. Rush would not be the same without his backing of Alex.
Kind the opposite of.....wait for it....Mr. Clayton...everyone says he is too basic..again it is what the songs call for....
I like them both....maybe I will watch some rotating chickens or washing machines on the dvd player tonight......
I think it's because Rush came from a metal background to begin with, and so play quite frenetically.. then along with the classical progression, those pieces become quite complicated, and the bass ends up in 'bach' territory.. you also have to consider it's a three piece, so geddy tends to 'overplay' because it creates depth and layering, due to there being a single guitar.

funny thing is wailing on the bass at the same time as stepping on the right moog pedals at the same time as singing like your ....ummm parts are caught in a vise....( oh yea and remembering all the words )

First and only time I saw the Pixies was at the Roxie in Hollywood just after Surfer Rosa came out, small venue, plenty of thunder - good times.
...sorry to be a derail-er. I'm a noob on TB and need to learn how to save a few stories for my book.
