Dang, I'm kinda back. Got stuck in moving from one city to another then had no internet in my new house. Still rockin' the Lakie though. This is my "goodness-this-is-a-great-bass-face".

And so is this.

And this is it.

Jeez dude! Are you sure you're not decapitating a rotting zombie in that first pic? Lol!! Just kidding you bro, but that pic COULD easily be cropped from a Fangoria mag.... you gotta admit!

Hola Lakland fans!

I am currently in talks to trade for a Lakland 55-02 Deluxe with the US electronics. My understanding is that it is all the parts for a US Lakland, just assembled in Indonesia.

What are your thoughts on the Skyline series? Build Quality? Skyline vs. US series? any thought in general would be greatly appreciated as I am not as familiar with Laklands.

Thanks in advance!
Brad

I was taking a réally intense pee at the moment that pic was taken... Sometimes I just can't control my bladder on stage.

Welcome to the madness Brad.
Your topic has been discussed at length in about, oh 54 threads thus far on here. You don't have time to read all those? well, the Skylines are great import basses, and in general (there are exceptions of course) they rival other brands US basses in build quality, playability, and tone. The US series are off-the-charts good, so you get what you pay for when it comes to Laklands. That's been my experience during my 3-year addiction, and I own both Skylines and US models.
Make sure and check out the LOG as well,

Thanks! I usually say the same to the guys who post these kind of questions in the Spector Thread! :D

I am just beginning my search for a 5'er and def would love to find a 55-94! But I hear good things from the Skyline series too!

I will def be going thru some of the old threads, but I honestly don't think I could make it thru all 54+ threads! :D

HOLA!

I would echo what Gary said...IMHO, Skylines are as good as (if not better than) many US built basses by other companies (with a few exceptions).

I have owned several (and still own 2 Skylines) and loved them all! a good bargain....go for it!

well, I mean, if money is no object, get the US. You'll have much the same tones available to you, just in a much nicer overall package.

I wish that were the case, of course I'm hoping to find one used, black and maple would be ideal, but not that realistic I assume. So would probably need to do a refin. So I don't want to get a nice quilt top or trans and then cover it up with a solid color.

Solid color -94s are out there, they just don't come up too often. They tend to be some of the cheapest US Lakies on the used market.

Unless you get one like mine, JK. But I am thinking of replacing my 44-02 with a 44-94, someone please talk me out of it.

I definitely won't talk you out of it; I've been thinking of trading up my 55-02 to a US one for a while... Won't happen in the same calendar year as I get my Sadowsky, simply because I don't want to get left, but it's in my mid-term plan.
