Wow - look at all the stuff I missed while I was out remodeling. Upside - remodel is done. Downside - it was too quiet without checking in on all ya'll and piping up occasionally. I guess I'll have to prioritize better and postpone any more remodeling projects. LOL.

Thanks. Gutted the office and converted it to more of a music room. Still don't have all the art on the walls, but you can see the before/during/after pics....

The truss rod needs tweaking and it needs a set up. Take it to a great tech or send it to Carl (the postage is worth it to have him set it up!).....then it will be worth its weight in gold......sounds like the truss rod adjustments are outta the realm of anything you should touch if the bow is that noticeable.

The last thing you want to do is snap that neck! It really cannot be replaced...

Bass is very minty really.
Sounds killer through my rig.
When I hold it up to a window and look down the fretboard, can for sure see that it dips down in the middle.

Seller ( who ordered it new through Steve Barr when the original orders where taken through the dudepit on this LE edition DPLEII bass) said he had been told that these basses had a tendency to have cranked up saddles due to the height of the Darkstar. That is was ness. to raise saddles up higher to clear the pup?
I dunno?

I am not a techie by a long shot.
So I am in the dark.

I would not re sell it bowed like this.
And I DO like the bass otherwise.

I guess i need to look into getting it figured out.

Seems like a minor thing. It just needs a set up. I can't speak to the height of the saddles (don't remember), but I set mine up to have really low slinky action with no fret buzz. It's also really easy to learn how to do this yourself, especially if you follow Carl's video.

Sure you are totally correct.
Honestly of all the basses I have bought in time, never had this problem.
maybe I was just lucky?
So this was new to me.
I know zip zero ziltch about working on my basses.
I just clean em and play em.
And buy em and sell em of course LOL

I live at the beach. The seasonal migration of the neck bow is something I'm used to. Although my shorty Decade barely changes if at all now and I had a 63 P Bass that never shifted.

BTW in my for sale thread in my sig I have some Sadowsky/Pedulla style knobs up for grabs, the look pretty nice on the 44-02. 1/4" Shafts.

I know I said this before but both of my Laklands have super high saddles like that. Both have low action though. I showed a few people and the verdict is that if it has good action then it's no problem at all.

One is a 2004 Korean Skyline Glaub and the other was a 2008 Indo Skyline Decade. Both bridges are exactly the same. I think it must be how the necks sit in the pocket on the Skylines or something.

So we all know that the LH-3 is a pretty darn powerful preamp, but I was wondering where everyone typically sets their output/volume control on the circuit board in the control cavity? For a while I used to have mine nearly cranked, but found it was way too much output for most applications, and distorted a lot of my other preamps/effects pedals. Now I match the LH-3 output to that of my Bartolini MK-1 systems in my -01 series basses. I tend to be a 'set-n-forget' guy when it comes to outboard pre/effects settings, and I found I was having to change everything with the 44-02 when I'd use it. So... do most others volume-match with other basses, or crank it?

Yea maybe?
This one does not have low action.
But it does have a dip in the middle of the fretboard.
It just needs some love I guess..Will shop around for a tech, and hope to make it 100%.

Get it set up....there is a distinct probability that the seller did not "recognize" the bow....if he bought it new and never had it set up, i would suspect some neck bow.....

easy enough fix....IF you have a luthier (or Gordon) do it....you know Gordon IS the Tim Taylor of the LOG!

PS - be careful though...the DPLE II may come back with a lawn mower motor on it...

I have not really done much at all....The ultimate "set it and forget it" guy...I often forget i CAN change it!

I make all volume adjustments using the volume control....maybe I should experiment a little....

Carl says you really can distort alot if you go too high on it!
