+1 to lighting and especially the tripod in lower light conditions.

When I was shopping around for a new camera, Dan told me I couldn't go wrong with a Nikon and he was right. I was going to get the D800, but opted for the D7000 to save a few bucks in order to buy more lenses - of course I bought FX lenses though. This way, if I decide to move up to a full frame sensor body in the future I'll be good to go and not have to buy all new lenses again.

Beautiful group you have there. Not sure about the pink Neon's with the burst - but who am I to judge :D

Just got this beauty off of TB a couple weeks ago. It's gotten SO much attention at the 4 shows I've played with it. At the last show I played a woman told me she wanted to have sex with my bass, and another woman said that it's the "absolute perfect bass". I kinda agree with her :)....well, the latter one that is. I love my new bass but I'm not doing anything PG-13+ to it. The best thing (other than the fact that Chi-Sonics are by far the best pickups I've ever used) is the neck. J-width with a bit more junk in the trunk (if ya dig. Jazzes always felt to thin as in from the fretboard to the back of the neck, not as in the nut width. Jazz nut width is perfect). It's super smooth, the frets are the best I've played on (and I own a MIA EBMM), the binding and blocks are beautiful, the wood looks great. It's perfectly balanced. Mmmmmmmm.

Ah two fellow Nikon users...
I have been shooting Nikon since back in the early 80's.
Will be using them for life I am sure.
Currently using D700 bodies and still have a D300 body as well.
Might grab the new D800 at some point, if I can stop blowing $$$ on basses. :hiding:

+1 on Cameta Camera in Long island. Great Ebay seller! Have bought from them before.
I would suggest buying from B&H Photo online out of NYC as well.

I don't see why you couldn't use either, the only difference being how fast you like your roll-off to be. Go linear if you want the midpoint to equal 50% and audio if you want it to roll off faster (midpoint is more like 25%). I've had good results with Bourns and CTS.

On a completely different note...does anyone actually own a USA AJ 4 or 5? I'd love to see photos (especially if it's something other than the red or charcoal) and hear some sound clips (I've seen the poorly done review on You Tube by Premier and the Bass Club video). Thanks.

I'd like that, too. I'm going to be choosing between a Skyline fretless 55-02 and a fretless AJ5. I have a 55-02, so I know its capabilities. I'd like to hear the differences before I get too far along. I only see two colors on the Lakland website for Skyline AJ5's, but I'm not worried too much about that.

Yeah I remember seeing it for sale early last year and being mad that I didn't get it, and then while searching for basses with Chi's in it a few weeks ago I came across that same bass and it was still for sale! It was pretty much a no-brainer. I've always wanted a bass with Chi's, I've always wanted a Lakland, and I've always wanted a bass that isn't yet-another-double-cutaway-Fender-lookalike.

Having that middle pickup is really nice. The amount of options I have at my disposal is just crazy. My two go-to tones on the bass is middle dimed for pick and bridge+neck (with the neck volume turned slightly off to open up the tone a bit, and the bridge dimed. Diming both, kinda like in a J bass, takes out the bite). It has so much warmth, sometimes it feels like my Streamliner 900 has a tube power section!

It's the bone nut Lakland supplied.
That's been my only complaint about the bass.

I mentioned it to Brian and even sent it back to the factory.
I told him it was cut wrong or at least unlike my other 5 string Laklands.
Brian told me he played it and there's nothing wrong with it.

I plan on having the nut replaced.
Kinda pissed me off after I paid ($75 or $100 - don't remember how much)...

I don't like that the Skylines use the MK-1 preamp for the AJ. I've never liked those. I wish they'd use the US electronics.
