I still do. Goodness gracious - I'd need like 10-12 basses if I ventured into 5- or 6-stringers. (Tangent: for some reason, I have always been enamored with the Yamaha TRB-6!)

Back in my "professional" musician days, I only played 5 strings. The only thing that appeals to me about 5 now is a high C string.
TRB-6s are nice but I prefer the neck on the Cirrus US Peaveys and the 35" scale and closer string spacing (believe it or not lol). I like 19mm 5ers but 17mm-ish 6ers.
I'm riding too GC w/ a 5 and a 6 as my copilots. My 55-94 needs a new input jack and my Peavey TL-6 has a pup that's got no output.
I had a TL-6 that I REALLY miss. If I could find the right color, I'd go with a TL-6.
I'm leaning towards the 55-01, but I want to find the right one. I'd like to find a deluxe, but they are few and far between. If I go with a standard 55-01, the grain has to be nice...Yep, I'm picky.
This one has a rare color: a pearl multicolor blue purple thing... very cool and pretty!
Wish the seller had told me that the bridge pup had no output. Oh well, no complaints... maybe he didn't know. I never mentioned it cause it was still a good purchase... the neck pup nails the P bass tone.

My 55-94's jack doesn't agree w/ monster cables but worked fine w/ a cheaper cable the tech had... weird! Anyways, he's putting a new jack in for me. He doesn't wanna mess with the TL-6 due to the preamp, so I'll try to figure out what's up myself. I may sell the Peavey... time for a bass sell off. I'll post a pic, it's pretty unique.
I got my TL-6 (the trans black like above) for $350...they had no idea what was wrong with it, no sound. Knowing that I could get a new pre for half that I could not pass it up. It turns out that the active passive switch shorted out...$2 later it was working like new.
I traded that TL-6 5 years later for a Warwick Streamer NT and then sold that to buy my first 44-02D...
I miss both of them...
Monster cables are notorious for reaming jack inserts. Even to the point where other cables won't work.
Yep, I mentioned that to the guy, he said it was bull. Guess I proved him wrong, cause we side by side compared cables and the monster made horrible noise while the other worked.
It suits me better than the coffee table 6ers I used to have and I like that it was way out of my financial reach in '89 when I first started playing and drooling over basses. Now they're cheap!!
The double "P" setup in those is absolutely incredible. It's thick, lush and warm. I would love Lakland to offer it in an active bass.
