BTW, that luscious CAR Glaub is sitting at my FedEx office right now. I'm fighting hard to take a half day!
WHAT?! Holding out with sekrits!?

Nice! Didn't know it delivered already! It's definitely worth a half day!![]()
Yeah right! LOL!
Seriously, there's no key. This looks like a job for SCIENCE! Now where did my C4 get to...
FWIW, IME most of the keys for cases are universal...The key for my SKB works on Gator, Lakland and TKL...vice versa for all mentioned too.
After reading the post about the jammed and / or maxed truss, I went to check the rod nut on my new to me 2013 DJ5 and it's VERY tight/hard to rotate, in either direction. I'd like to lube it but the neck relief is currently perfect so I'm reluctant. If I decide to go ahead, will it be easy to get it back on after I remove the nut and drop in some oil?
My new 55-64 is very tight turning either way too. I worked it a few times and it has gotten a little easier. I'm not too worried as there is still plenty of room to tighten if need to in the future. Right now it is straight as an arrow. I figure I have a couple years warranty if it gets stuck.
Thanks. Good to know. I just boxed mine and it is going to Lakland tomorrow. Bass Central is picking up the shipping cost, but otherwise I am pretty much over them. They have started every conversation with "it was perfect when it left". I am not blaming them, just noting it is not perfect. In addition to the truss rod (which may or may not be ok) the electronics have a short or bad pot and I found that even with the action high I have buzzing at the 12th fret. Not what I come to expect from a Lakland.
Good news is that Leo and the Lakland team have been nothing but apologetic and all over it. It is for that reason I am sure I will remain a loyal Lakie user...just not from Bass Central. Frankly, I have received more caring from Guitar Center!
Thanks for all the input on the truss rod.
Glad it's getting all worked out for ya!! Nothing worse than getting a new bass and its bummed.
. Too bad Sweetwater didn't have this bass. I love dealing with them!

Sweetwater is awesome! They sent me candy!![]()
Hrm, on the rare occasion that I am not buying on ebay, I've typically used Musician's Friend, and have been looking forward to inquire using their forums email address next time I'm ordering. Does Sweetwater do coupons or give further discounting via chat/phone like MF does?
(I'm GASsing for a new head/cab and keep adding a TCE RH750 to my cart but not checking out!)
Once I calm down I may even post on the Bass Central forum about my experience. Frankly I keep reading the last email from them and fuming. Here is the opening line (in all CAPS and spelling exactly as sent...)
"CHRIS, I WENT OVER THAT LAKLAND BY HAND AND THOUGH THAT IT WAS SET UP FALWLESSLY."
My call with the tech also spent more time with him telling me how they went over everything before they shipped. They get to the "sorry you have concerns" at the very end. Felt like I was on the defensive the whole time. They never even mentioned I could return it. In fact, they seemed more concerned to avoid that even though they have a policy that allows it within 48 hours. Like I said, I would rather deal with Guitar Center. Too bad Sweetwater didn't have this bass. I love dealing with them!
Sorry for more venting...just letting off steam and thankful it is the weekend and my friends at Lakland have my back!
I do also use Musician's Friend. They have been good and are either owned by Guitar Center or the same company that owns Guitar Center. Unfortunately I don't think Sweetwater ever does the discounting like MF or GC. They have carved out their niche with service. I do admit that for some items I will go MF just as it is cheaper.
Yes, Sweetwater will match anyone's coupons. They do have sales from time to time. I have gotten stuped deals from them. When I order, I always ask for at least 10% off, and always get it.
