You're going to break up the Dude?!? Why not just chamber under the PG?
Evaluating all options. If I got a different body, I could easily restore the bass to original. With routing the existing body, not so much. I'm also not sure it's possible to route/chamber enough to reduce ~20% of its weight. There might be bad side effects (sustain?) as well.

I bet the Dude doesn't compalin about your weight.... you are so insensitive.
No, the Dude complains about my lack of strength. :p

I bet you could drop 20% easily. Sadowsky chambers their bodies, and they don't seem to be hurting for fans...but you make a good point about restoration purposes.

such extreme measures, just to shave a few lbs? have you already tried the hipshot ultralite tuners? there's a half pound right there.

there's always this approach (put it on a freakin' stand):

Yeah just logged in and saw ya posted the Lullbird and rolled it in about an hour or so...whoa!
Those are far and few between on the used marketplace....not surprised it flew out the door fast for ya.
Well it is cool ya keep that Raspberry Sherbet 44-94 at least...
Saweeeetness :D :bassist:

Thanks man! Yeah 94 is just so versatile. I just put some old style Fender flats on it and lovin' it!

Well, I made a point to play DD33 exclusively for the last week and a half or so for a few practices and a gig. Grabbed the Dude last night for my first rehearsal with a band for whom I'm subbing for a few shows over then next 2-3 months, and may join permanently (but I'd likely have to drop the blues band.)
Conclusion: I confirmed that the Dude is much more comfortable for me. I've got to make some time to visit Carl with both basses and see what's next!

Let me know if you wanna let go of the DD ... :)

I was there, at the airport. You didn't see the guy pushing the ice cream cart around ringing the little bell? Yeah, that's my night job, pushing heladitas at ONT. it's tougher than you think.

I bet.....not sure I could push that much ice cream without eating it all!

Just put my Lakies through their paces tonight at a gig... Buttah

nice!!!!

Check out the LOG site.....:ninja:

you had the "Proto" but...there was another.....pre-proto...recently rediscovered in a secret vault....

I think my favorite was the DJ5...it's got so much umph! The Glaub is easier to play though, mostly because I've only ever had 4 strings.

give it time...before you know it the DJ5 will be easier!!!

They're easier, but its amazing how balanced sounding the fiver is, even with balanced tension strings on the four.

yup...very balanced...that is why I love the Lakie B!!! it is useable...

Working through (30) songs for a few sub jobs coming up. I'm 4 songs in to the first chunk and it seems like I need 3 diff basses so far.

And have to learn to play with a pick in a hurry. First and last time I used a pick was roughly 1993 and the band's response was "pick much?" :spit:

I'm really not used to the straight ahead modern rock styles I guess, too much Motown and other "good" music :ninja:

In other news, last night I had an 80+ year old gentleman with an oxygen tank ask me if we could please be louder, he couldn't hear the drums or feel the rhythm to dance with his wife of 61 years.

nice!!!! (the 80+ year old asking for more volume!)....love it.

as for a pick...I could NEVER get coordinated enough....tried many times but seem to lose the feel....lose where I am because I cannot feel the strings etc....also - every time I do it, it sounds "chunky" and not smooth..

pick/plectrum requires a different approach to playing, for sure. But I can't see not using a pick for certain songs, kinda a requirement. And not just for modern rocker songs. Fer instance, I couldn't see how it would sound any good if you used fingerstyle on "Fortunate Son". You just gotta go pick on that one.

I know...I know....there are some songs that do not sound "right" finger style but I do it anyways...as Tom says..."OUT there it ALL sounds like bass".... :)

I used to start a few songs off with a pick (Velvet Revolver and Shinedown tunes) then toss it at some cleavage in the crowd once the band kicked in. I may use one w/ muting when we do Locked Out Of Heaven.

so...you spend the first part of the song picking out a "target"???? :D

love it!

do you usually make the basket?

Haha...this group is just a bunch of enablers!

Seriously!!

well...yeah.....but that is WHY you come here....

As an aside to JJ's post....I was an alter boy when I was (much) younger and one of our responsibilities was to hold a gold paddle (for lack of a better name) under people's chins during communion in case the host fell...that way it would not touch the floor...well...an older lady (70+) came up and the host did not go totally in her mouth...it fell and went right...well...you can guess where.....:D

The look she gave me and the priest was a combination of quizzical and "what do I do now"? The priest whispered in her ear to make sure she removed it and ate it when she got home.....she shook her head slightly and went away...still with a quizzical look on her face...

I will never forget that day....

Thanks! Kinda hard to tell from the pic, but the 494 pretty 'road worn'. There's tons of checking on the back and the neck is sooo dark. The fingerboard is dirty and funky. Lotsa vibe. My Osborn is now my #1 player nowadays.

REAL MOJO is a good thing!!!!

You guys would leave me Jazzless! How could you!:bawl:

:rollno:
:eyebrow:
:D

NEVER!!!!! :rollno::scowl:

Don't hate what you create....

there yah go....

Better than being P-less!

I just took another step to assure that NEVER happens to me.... :ninja:

I'm talkin' basses. Although don't old dudes use the bathroom allot? I would think no P would be a good thing!

well....only when I drink a lot of water......and other times....

As I just sold my last Lakie (for now), I'd like to donate my LOG# to the next member to join, assuming the mods and the masses are satisfied with that.

#244's back on the block.
It's been a pleasure, and I hope to be back amongst your ranks soon enough!!

see below....once a LOGger...ALWAYS a LOGger...

Trevior, I will tell you right now what Doug will say, and I agree with him: Keep the number, we know you'll be back!:)

It's back... Pat Wilkins did a perfect job, pretty sure it sounds better too...

temporary-15.jpg

sweet!!!! love it!!! congrats on having her back...

Finally! Beatiful. I'm sure it sounds better since it's now the right color.

...color change ALWAYS makes a bass play better...kind of like washing a car makes it feel faster!

Sweet combo there!

I agree completely. When it shows up on ebay (or TB?) may the best man win the high bid! :D

......:eyebrow:....hoping or predicting?

WTB: Skyline Glaub body!

hmmm??????? we need details....

I am sure Carl or Leo could help you out....:D

You're going to break up the Dude?!? Why not just chamber under the PG?

better not!!!!! never mod a Dude....too rare.....

I bet the Dude doesn't compalin about your weight.... you are so insensitive.

LOL.....
