Carl Pedigo has my US Dunn in his possession after some head-to-head fun with the Dude and the Dunn. I'm psyched. He's worked his magic on other Laklands for me and when he says "not a big deal, we'll get this right where you want it" I believe him.

I mentioned the latest craze for LOGgers of the neck finish refresh process and that results were unanimously good. His take: "Uh, yeah, that's why I tell people to do it." He did mention that it will come out differently on Skyline necks, because US necks have oil impregnated IN the wood while the Skylines have the lacquer finish ON the wood. I'm wondering if frequent application on Skylines might give the oils a chance to really soak in better and deeper over time. That is pure conjecture on my part.

Haha, I can absolutely picture Carl saying this and the tone of his voice.

He's worked on my basses for more than six years since Jaquo put me in touch with him. "Magic" is the right word!

I'm leaning towards the gold leaf, but the black is super classy.

Ideally I would have done this in better light, but my 10mo old had other plans

Thems all hot...liking the gold leaf a lot...

Since this land of enablers is the wrong place to trigger an intervention...

I just talked to Leo at Lakland about possibilities for weight loss program for the Dude and to try to get some understanding and emotional relief for why the US Dunn neck seems different than the DPLEII neck (better in many ways, hell yes, but just different from what I'd anticipated).

It didn't really go anywhere so I called Carl. I mentioned Doug's suggestion of the "Pedigo neck treatment" and he confirmed that we could do some things. At some point early on signals got crossed and he thought we were talking about making the neck of the Skyline Dude more like the US Dunn, and he was thinking the US bass was the heavier one. Once that was clarified, he said, in shock, "wait a minute, you want the US more like the Skyline?!?" and thus understood my dilemma...

Anyway, I'm taking both basses to see the good doctor and we'll see what happens next!

In the meantime, I will continue to blame Gary and peabody for everything.

ONCE it all gets straightened out Carl will make it right!

At least you DID NOT mention me in the last sentence!!!! :smug:

 Admit it, you are singlehandedly responsible for my increasing property taxes, the ding I got in my car door in the parking lot, and the wrong notes I played at practice last night. Well, maybe that last one was my fault... :p

sounds like it might be time to leave Chicago...

YUP....THOSE and MANY more reasons.....which I cannot go into here or the mods would "zing me".... :D
