I doubt that you remember, but any idea what your tone setting was on the bass in that recording? Full, 1/2, 1/4, 33-1/3, 110, 220, 221?

That's the sound I want.

We did do "MY Girl" (you mentioned Motown) but the guitar is non existent and the bass is sometimes drowned out by the drums so you cannot hear it at times.

i can use a little help, i have a 55-02 fretless and i prefer the sound of round wound strings, the fretboard is showing some string marks, i think i would like to get it epoxy coated. i know there are a few out there playing fretless Laklands, how do you protect your fretboard and if you had it epoxy coated where did you have it done? HG Thor comes highly recommended but he has a 4 year wait. yes i said 4 years. i live in NY about 40 miles out side of NYC so NYC would be good. i would appreciate any help i could get,

Call Carl Pedigo, he might do it, or might have a referral to someone near you. The good thing is you only have to send the neck, not the entire bass, so sending it away would not be as expensive.

Anywho, no affiliation (thank God), but somebody might like a CAR US Bob Glaub with a dubious signature on the headstock.

It could be legit, G. Glaub and Dunn were pals, and at the 10th anniversary concert in 2004 at Lakland Duck is seen playing a CAR Glaub while Glaub is playing a Dunn. I only know because these pictures were on the pages for their respective signature models on Lakland's site.

But yeah, I can't stand it when people throw other brand names into their ads to get more hits.:rollno:

Lakland definitely makes the best "Fender Precision Bass"

I was still kind of experimenting with the controls but this is what THINK it was....Pickup at about 3/4 up...J pickup all the way up.

volume on the P greater than on the J....(not sure by how much)

I REALL think a Hanson Vintage is what you want....give it a try...BTW - these are the Sadowsky black label flats....I like them because they have a bit more treble to them than other flats I have played....

Good to know as I'll likely be springing for a Skyline 55-AJ in the near future.

Dave....I had Carl coat mine (a 55-94 which belonged to Markus for some time and now is fretted and belongs to Leo and my Skyline JO5 fretless)...he does a GREAT job and is quicker than THOR....I believe he would be cheaper as well....

I prefer rounds on my fretless basses as well....my Carlo CB 550 HH (bubinga neck) has rounds....just played it at church yesterday and it sounded GREAT - even on the rockier songs....the neck is not coated on the CB....does not need it yet....

"signed in 2004 before his passing"????? sounds like Mr. Dunn passed away in 2004!

Is that his signature? would take some detective work before I would bite on this one for sure....

regardless....seems high...
