I have had been waiting on a custom order for 10 months and if it comes out to be anything less that I wanted, I might blow a gasket...
Ya, I'm with you there. I custom ordered an Alembic years ago and it was a dog turd of a bass. I hated it. I won't touch am Alembic now and am very hesitant towards custom orders.

so MAKE SURE it is "right" and "within budget"....You know that doing things right takes time....and patience...don't rush things "just because"....
(ooops...sorry...another "over the line" comment"....ahem)...Tyler - do it right....order the bass and then get pat to do the headstock....

Bought UK-based magazine 'Bass Magazine' and saw this on page 1. I quote:
NuSonic pickup units, replicas of Hagstroms classic Bi-Sonic pickup, are being made by luthier Lawrence Born. Made entirely by hand in England, they come in a variety of pose spacings to suit narrow-spaced short scales or wider-spaced long scales. Special wide-mounting rings can be specified to cover the standard pickup routes of Jazz or Precision basses. Prices start at £155. Visit Link Removed for info.
So, if the Darkstars in your classic Decade die, then there are options: Curtis Novak in the USA, and now Lawrence Born in the UK.
Since probably more Lakland players use this style of pickup than any other guitar brand, thought it was worth sharing here.

LOL. I hardly think about bass playing callouses, since I've never had any that were even close to the nasty callouses I used to get when I played those darn skinny stringed guitars.
