I bought several lightly used US Laklands and each one has been amazing!
I then bought the brand new Buckeye Burl for a TON of $$$.
It is amazing also.
But for the money you spend on new?
I would stick to finding the minty used ones from here on in.

I loved the look of the bass, Burled Maple top, Cocobolo fretboard, it was stunning but the neck was like a 2x4. Totally uncomfortable. I'd played several of their basses in the past and never liked the necks. I thought that I could remedy that with a custom order, but I guess that some things are just not meant to be.
The feel of a basses neck is as important as the sound to me. This is what brought me to Lakland and why all of my basses are Lakland. The only other companies that have neck that I like are Pedulla and Carvin. I'm wanting to try an Elrick as well.
I do have the one I bought new--ordered to my specs, took six months. But I knew going in it would be a forever bass and it is.

Mine is the lighter smaller bodied Orion.
The neck is thin and fast.
Very much like the neck width and profile of my US Laklands.
I play them back and forth and it is VERY similar.
Unlike the Stingray I own which is much different.
I might roll my last Stingray due to this fact.
It just feels odd to me now after playing the US Laklands and the Alembic.
It was a Series I. Not sure what happened when that neck was shaped. If I ever buy another Alembic, I will play it first.
However, the Wickershams are great people, don't think I'm bashing them.

I will say that, after a period of playing White Lightning almost exclusively, going back to round wounds did cause my fingers to be sore...

My vacations are usually limited to my couch or the lake until my kids get older....
Big D was in some place called O'ahu...near some other place called Hawaii, probably drank a Mai Tai and thought about Gary's Mai Tai. This could get disturbing.

my vacations are about the same as yours...well except when we go to my wife's family's homestead in Iowa....
Looks like Big D had a great vacation...out of all the states I have been in, I have never been to Hawaii or Alaska....every time a chance comes up...something happens and I never get to go....

LOL.....close but not that close....Muscatine (the home of the famous Musk Melon and once famous for their fresh water pearloid buttons).

Day 2 much harder than day 1. Crazy lady screaming all night and crazy guy in bed next to me talking to himself all night. Surreal.
