How does it play?

It plays and sounds fantastic.

I really like the profile and feel of the (1.5" nut width) Sterling necks and love the body size. I'm itching to get a (used) re-issue Classic Sabre but they don't show up used very often. I don't think you can find a better bang-for-the-buck value in a US made bass than EBMM.

I played EBMM Sterlings exclusively for 8 or 10 years and wholeheartedly believe I'd never play anything else. (But I'd always wanted to try a Lakland, and then I did...)

I've been itching to try a Sterling 5 myself. I really like the look of those basses and I've heard nothing but great things about EBMM necks!

Sterling and Big Al, my fav EBMM basses. Don't own any right now, since I got on that Spector kick. Oh yeah, I still love my 2 Laklands....

I like the idea of the Big Al, but I can't get past the Duck Dodgers look...

well I've gotta say I'm no longer a Lakland owner. Although my 44-02 had the most playable neck and the best action of all my basses, it just didn't compare to my Bongo 4H. I traded it in for a Bongo HH. The Lakland club is the best owners club on Talkbass! I will miss it!
