That’s my Diablo Rojo! When I finish building for other folks, I’m putting it back under the scalpel… Mad Scientist style!
After looking further a couple things are clearer.
1) I am comparing the new version of the LH-3 to the original "Lakland-Hanson" version. Everything that I can find indicates that there is only a single connection.
and
2) that the yellow wire may be original (at least in some, but not all, cases), spliced to the red battery box wire .
I'm sure it's been used many times, but I have to think Diablo Rojo is a good band name

Used Lakland 55-01 Skyline Series 5 String Electric Bass Guitar Black | Guitar Center
At least this is for a reasonable price. Description just says "tape on pickguard" but looks like there are also poorly applied block markers with electrical tape. And those definitely aren't stock electronics.

How many brain cells were fried by looking at those 2 abominations? I need a deep cleanse after that.
Now I have questions on that one too. If its all just tape (and it appears to be), why not remove it all and clean it up? Why just throw it out there like that? You would make out better. I just don't understand Guitar Center. The pickups could be an improvement. Who knows
I posted this a few pages ago, saying Dr. Frankenstein had fun with this one.
It's horrendous, and it's not just the tape.
The extra holes, the pickguard shape, everything about it is ugly.
They are probably afraid to touch it as the whole thing might fall apart.
