I's refin the maple-boarded one to natural and swap out the pickguard for a black one.
Then I'd stare at it lovingly for hours. Maybe play it a little as well...
Just to be a dink, here's a 5-string P with a maple neck that happens to be fabulous. Not a Lakland, though. Still a fine, fine beast.
I kind of miss Amber North. The Sadowsky had knocked her out of the gig rotation, but I still took her out to play form time to time, and my daughter loved to 'play' it. I just looked for a pic to keep this post on-track, but my photo hard drive is downstairs and I'm just too lazy right now.

I just got a skyline 44-64 and it has SD SPB-1 installed the original Lakland pups came with it, what are your thoughts should I switch them back? first Lakland thinking I need to hear the Lakland sound

If it's your first Lakland and you're looking for the sound, then I'd say to go ahead, but I honestly don't thing the differences on passive P Basses are big enough to make it that big a deal either way. especially in a loud gig situation. If it's going to be a primarily recording bass, that might change things a little...

Compare to what you have now. As roadkill mentioned you may be hard pressed to tell the difference.

55-64 is here. Seems it's been in store for ages, based on the s/n it's from 2011, the string is poopy...so I have a NOS 
Replace the string, setup the neck truss rod a bit to my liking, the action is still bit high for me. It's late now so I'll play around with the bridge height tomorrow after work.
Test with VT bass thru mixer & headphone. Sound wise: massive output (seems bigger than 55-02 on passive mode) with lot of fundamental & bark, real rock sound. I haven't played a P for longtime, but I like it. Some small setup on the action and it should be perfect. Photos later.
