Just one critic for Lakland: how can a bass that costs > 1000$ doesn't come with a case at least softcase. It perhaps only costs 15$ if they order in thousands. My only bass which didn't come with case is a sub 100$ Yamaha rbx my parents bought me 20 years ago

This has been commented on before and many agree with you.

I would rather they not come with a case. I don't have a need for a hard case. I have plenty of nice gig bags, and sending them with even that would raise the price at least $100 most likely.

I want cases for everything. Gig bags are nice but stuff happens.

And maybe this is your first big purchase and you don't have a supply of gig bags at home?

I've dealt with expensive basses showing up in just a cardboard box before (ahem), I think a bag should be standard packing.

I have 4 gig bag & 1 hardcase. Just weird that with this price point Skyline doesn't come with at least softcase.
BTW, my 55-64 is very light, just a bit heavier than my Status. This morning I setup the bridge and it can go very low.

55-64 is here. Seems it's been in store for ages, based on the s/n it's from 2011, the string is poopy...so I have a NOS
Replace the string, setup the neck truss rod a bit to my liking, the action is still bit high for me. It's late now so I'll play around with the bridge height tomorrow after work.

Test with VT bass thru mixer & headphone. Sound wise: massive output (seems bigger than 55-02 on passive mode) with lot of fundamental & bark, real rock sound. I haven't played a P for longtime, but I like it. Some small setup on the action and it should be perfect. Photos later.

New strings can breath alot of life into a bass!

They do sound massive!

Hellz to the yeah. My original 55-02 came with a soft case, but that was ages ago, and the case was so crappy that the bass ripped through it. I dunno what's up with that...

I'm just afraid that after this I'll GAS for a fiver Jazz. I wish Lakland makes 55-60 maple with block inlay like Geddy's drool that would be accute GAS for me
Now, need to put my Stingray on sale (have no use for it anymore)

I tested 55-64 by playing along with some Mr. Big tracks. Soloed, it doesn't have the highs like a soloed 55-02. But for some reason I can hear 55-64 clearly over the backing tracks compared to 55-02.

Ahhh..... Sorry about that.. Yes "added gas" is a standard option with every lakland...

As for a Lakie "Geddy Lee" non-signature model with 5 strings? Been on my "want list" for a looooong time!

If you want to move to a US model that can be done.... But then you'd be gassing for US lakies all of the time and that is an expensive and hard habit to break!

As for hearing the P in the mix....I know what you mean! Seems to just "fit" Nicely.....

BTW - The Markus orange P5 was the "official" P5 Proto BUT I was able to snag a pre-proto body (hand cut by the master Carl himself!)...it became "White Lightnin"....
