Lakland Owners Group #69

Congrats on the new DJ4. I love mine a lot . I just ordered one from Mike at Quick Guards. I sent him mine to make a pattern from and I should get the new one by next week I think. Seems to be a good guy to deal with but this is my first time so we will how how they turn out. Also ordered one for my new Skyline 44-64 PJ went a little crazy on the design

Please post pics once you get them!

Speaking about Quickguards...

Here are my 2 DJ's. I've found that this model is the best fit for me. Love the way it hangs on your body, perfect hand alignment, first bass to do this after at least 100 in 20 plus years. Necks feel like butter. Both have slight differences from the other.Besides mods, the only real difference is that the '05 neck seems more straight on both Treble/Bass side, where the '06 LPB has slightly more bow on the treble side, about .012 difference, not much but you can feel it when recording but not when playing live.

I ordered a Black Pearloid guard from Quickguards and I'll post the results of the fit asap. It should be here this coming week. There's a very small gap on the White DJ and i think the new Quickguard will cover it.

#1) '05 White Pearl DJ, Lindy singles, stock passive, US hipshots w/d-tuner.
#2) '06 LPB DJ, Lindy Fralin "Mike Lull" Singles w/raised poles, J-Retro, Lic hipshots-not US

The '05 came to me with all the mods stock from Lakland. The "06 had the non-US Hipshot Lic., no D-tuner, Lakland/Hanson pups, stock VVT controls. The Hipshot Lic product has brushed alum posts/nuts while the US ones are Chrome. I couldn't find a brushed alum post d-tuner to save my life, so I just get a chrome post one.

Here;s a shot of both and my awesome lil-BIG Peavey BAM rig w/SWR loaded Peavey 210 TVX extension cab. Hope you like it. I sure do!
Peace everyone, enjoy your weekend...

I love the black pg on your LPB DJ4:bassist:
I've been thinking, and I may go with a red tort for my LPB, instead of black (my first choice). I like how tort looks with LPB, and come on, it's tort! I took the pg off of mine a couple days back, and I actually like how it looks "sans pg".

Yea, I had the Tort on the LPB and it looked too pretty, so I swapped it for the Black one and I like the look better. Looking forward to the Black Pearloid pg from Quickguards...

Just a thought. You said that you couldn't find a brushed-post D-Tuner. Assuming the post diameters are the same, is it possible to unbolt the posts and swap them, or is the D-tuner post shorter? Also, are the Lindy Frailin pups stock for the 2006? I'm wondering if my 2007 has the same pups (all the pole pieces are raised above the cover). They sound great, either way, but it's always good to know.

The D tuner post has different screw holes in the back to work with the D tuner mechanism

The '06 came with stock Lakland/Hanson pups. I installed "Mike Lull" wound Fralins last week. Big difference.
The US Hipshot D-Tuner won't interchange with the Hipshot Lic tuner. SAE vs Metric I believe, plus, different sizes. The 11/16 hole needed is slightly smaller on the Skyline headstock, I'll have to redrill the correct size. So, no, the US/LIC Hipshots are not interchangeable. At least these aren't.

Yes, the "Lull wound" Fralins have raised A&D poles.

My '05 came to me with Lindy's and stock US Hipshots w/De-Tuner. Nice options, but I believe those Fralins were a mod also.

I'm thinking about replacing the white pickguard. I just don't know what color will looks better. Next step upgrade the preamp.
I'm looking to join the club.
How do i get a number??
Tks.

Nice Pair! Sorry, couldn't resist :)

IMHO, I would leave the pickguard as is. I like the white on white and it works with the blocks.

Start a conversation with @basspraiser to get a number. Welcome!

Lastly, don't forget to check out the Link Removed if interested.
