Lakland Owners Group #69

My 55-94 about to relax with a glass of 12 year Scotch.

Right? I'm wondering if Lakland can route a J pickup in if I send it to them. I want the jazz bass grind/growl with the gut punch tone of the p bass

I don't see why they, or anyone with the right tools and skills, couldn't get that done nicely for you. You'd love it. All your current tones plus a whole new tonal palette to choose from. I did my 55-64 as a test and it was great. The only thing, albeit minor, is that with a painted finish you won't be painted in the new rout. You can't really see it anyway but a little shielding paint does the trick to blend and hide.

I've managed not to buy another Lakeland but you know it's just a matter of time. Don't, Stop, Don't, Stop. Lol. Here's another of BEM and ebony.

You bet. It is a US Lakeland made for me last year. And my other basses just sit in the corner since I got it. It's that good!

You got any sound clips of that thing?
I really want a US Lakland PJ with ebony fretboard

After 11 years 1 month and 1 day and roughly 77,000 posts since the Lakland Owners Group formed here in TB, y’all have finally convinced me to acquire my first Lakland; a new 55-02 Deluxe in Spalted maple with rosewood board. It finally showed up today and I think I’m in lust. It’s beautiful and plays so incredibly well that I may have scratched my last itch.

How many do I need to own to get a number? Wait, are there still numbers?

I feel bad for my other basses.
That is one of the best looking spalted tops I've ever seen

Wow!! So awhile back I was scheming to get a Lakland dual j like this. Haven't ever seen one with a p pickup. Do you have any sound clips of this bass? Wondering if the tone is slightly different than a normal pj

As far as I’m aware, this is the first P/J 44-94 they’ve made. By all accounts they thought it turned out brilliant, and I agree!

I can’t imagine it sounds much different to a US 44-64, same pickups, Alder body, Maple neck, Rosewood board.
I went for the 44-94 shape as I simply preferred the fret access on my 55-01 to the 44-64 Skyline I had (now sold), plus I also have a 1971 Precision.
The 44-94 is also now strung with La Bella Gold Flats, which suit it perfectly!

Nice! Did you get it with the 1.6 neck? I'd be interested in one with a mahogany body and ebony fretboard

Do you like the gold flats?

I'm potential looking for something new to put on my Packer Bass....

If i’m honest, I don’t know! Whatever the standard 44-94 neck is :)

I really do like them, they’re much brighter than the standard La Bella Flats I have on my ‘71 P, mich like,Chromes but with a bit more attack. Plus they’re gold.....like the bass haha.
