Lakland/Carlo represent! (Fender sandwiched in the middle)
Took the Funk #49 JO out for a spin last night at a block party with nickle rounds and 2 subs for support. Sound tech said best bass tone he’s heard in a few years. He took the DI out of the SB. I think it’s probably because he can actually get the bass in the FOH mix 
I’m really digging the focused sound of a sealed 2x12 with passive basses and tubes - and the FOH techs dig it too, which is probably key.

From Lakland's FB page: Colin Greenwood of Radiohead stopped by to pick up his new Lakie (I didn't know he was playing Laklands now--nice!). They're playing sold-out shows at the United Center this Friday and Saturday. For those who may not know, president John Pirrucello's on the far left, Greenwood is of course holding the bass, Steve Pirrucello (who I think is working on production and marketing) is to the right of him, Bo Pirrucello (who oversees pickup manufacturing) is in the maroon polo, master luthier Carl Pedigo is to the right of him, and sales guy Leo Lopez is on the far right. (Sorry, I don't know the other four gentlemen by name.)

Can someone recommend a set of flats that they like on a 44-64 custom Skyline? I've tried two, each on the opposite end of the spectrum - LaBella Deep Talkin' and D'addrio Chromes. The LaBella's sound great in my living room, but get lost in the mix real fast in a band situation. I like the Chromes on my Ric, but on the 44-64 they're clanky and don't really deliver that good thump that the LaBella's deliver. Is there something that can give me a good thump, but also provide more mids and a little over-tone?. I've monkey'd with EQ'ing my amp, but nothing seems to get the LaBella's into the mix.

Sadowsky Blues are nice; haven't tried the new formula ones, but they get very nice reviews, and the old ones were good too.
You should never run flats thru-body. You risk breaking them because of the severe angle stringing thru-body causes. This is due to the way flats are created - rounds do not have this problem.
I’ve played TI flats on my US 44-64’s for a long time now and love them. I’ve also heard good things about the GHS flats.
@gotfunk21 would you say the TIs are less scooped and a little more mid-rangey? I'm not looking for a bright mid centric string, but just something that will bring me back into the mix. On the nights I play my P with the LaBellas, my drummer always says he doesnt hear me as well, which stinks b/c I love that bass and the everything about that string except for the fact that it gets lost in the mix.
I definitely don’t feel like I’m lacking mids. But I’m also using a Fralin pickup which is pretty mid centric IMO
I like the TI flats on my non Lakland P bass with Fralin pickups. The Labella DTB flats are great on my 44-64 PJ but of course it has more overtones due to the J bridge pickup. And i've been enjoying the DR Legends on my passive 55-94. Yes, and run them through the bridge.
Haven't tried it yet but am wondering how the half wounds would sound on the P bass to get more overtones.
I thought that would be the case. In fact, I was hoping the J PUP would bring the LaBellas up front a little more, but I didnt hear that. Maybe I'll give them a second try. They just sound kind of dead - great feel and great thump, but not enough mids. I'll have to retry them.
I do run the bass tone control all the way open and the EQ on the amp pretty midrangy. Inverse scoop but accentuating the low mids. Sits in the mix well but the PJ has more thump and less grind than the J bass (with Chisonics).
