I think they use ebony for tone, but also because it is harder than rosewood and fretless strings tend to wear the fretboard more than on fretted basses. Ebony should resist that wear better.

I think so too. I am not normally a fan of Mother of Toilet Seat pickguards, but not sure what else is "right" with that gaudy Candy Apple Red. I'll get used to it.

Gold Leaf and CAR are amazing, as is gloss black

Been trying to find a Glaub myself ... thats a great looking bass...

I've always had Tortoise on my CAR basses. Looks great, especially with a dark board.

I think I will leave the white pickgaurd on it, at least until it arrives. That would be Thursday. ;-)

Rolled out the 55-14 for it’s christening weekend of gigging and it did exactly that which I was hoping; sat perfectly in the mix and was comfortable to play.

As an aside, I usually just plug in a DI but the sound engineer at this particular venue prefers to mic a 10” speaker cab. He realizes the hollow stage needs some separation to keep the boominess at bay so that’s why the cab is sitting on a couple railroad timbers.

I'm seriously considering pairing my Lakland with the same amp and cab. Had the chance to try it with bigger cabs and it sounded superb compared with other digitals...

So I'm curious about possible flaws, if there are any?

Still looking for a USA Bob Glaub. Prefer 1.75 nut width, in ‘burst, white, or black. But will consider any color.
May even consider a 44-94 Im really missing a lakland.

it’s my regular setup when I run an amp. I like the TC because it has the compressor, tuner, and semi-parametric eq which allows me to dial in the room. More often than not nowadays, I simply run DI to the board.

Pardon the crappy pics, but I just received my buckey burl 44-64. This bass is a thing of beauty. It has a 2 piece swamp ash body with a gorgeous birdseye maple fretboard. I haven't even taken the little bags off the tuners yet. It's comfortably light, my guess is maybe 8.5 lbs.

I am in awe at the craftsmanship of this bass. Hats off to the fine folks at Lakland! I am completely enamored!
