Interesting what you said about Sadowski flats, which I haven't tried. Also be sure to hard crimp and bend the end of the string before winding. If not the rotation from winding around the tuner can loosen the outer windings from the core causing a bad string. Especially with round core strings. Hex core helps prevent that but I crimp then anyway.

Definitely with the bending/crimping of the string. I always line up the tuner slot parallel to the neck, insert the end into the hole and then bend the string around before tuning. This was weird because I've used Sadowsky flats for a decade now and I've never had windings separation on a string before. These are hex core strings as well.
I've tried Dunlop flats, Labellas, Fender flats, GHS precision flats, Chromes, and TI's and I like these Sadowsky's the best of all. The strings are super smooth like Labellas, not as flexible as the TI's but enough so they're just the right amount of tightness, and they've got a great sound. The fundamental of the note is very present and the overtones are there like rounds, but without the sproingyness, if that makes sense. They sustain like rounds as well - even 7 or 8 years later like on my Ibanez SR480.

It came up rather quickly...I was in Asheville and didn't realize how close I was to JJ.
Until we texted Monday because I ended up driving this as a rental...
I know he loves his BMW so I texted him...
Also.... Many times I don't have the freedom or ability to be able to drive an hour and a half to see someone.
This time all is the Starz aligned...
Next time I'll think it out a bit more and let you know....
PS... Usually I end up with Malibu's and Maxima's as rental cars... Never got lucky enough for a BMW!

Same as what Doug said: it happened kinda quick, and I usually don’t get an hour plus free time to drive to meet folks, as well. Definitely would have been great to have another Lakland fan hanging with us! We will try to make it happen, if/when we get an opportunity to meet up again.
This was only the second time JJ and I got to meet face to face....
The Turner is currently not working... Not sure if the preamp is shot or what...

I sure wish US automakers could get a 4 banger with that form of responsiveness!
I got to drive it for 4 days and almost 800 miles....do I want one? You Betcha!
Can I afford to maintain one? Heck no.
The 4 banger - yeah - about that....this belonged to a school mate of my middle daughter...the mom was going to donate it or throw it away...so I got it....It's not a "great bass" but its OK...
I may not keep it...

Greets....again.....a few years back I reluctantly divested of Laklands as I wanted to get back to 34" 5ers only.......and was recently delighted to see they are currently offering 34" scale on some custom 5ers; I ordered a 34" 54 dual J (that's what Leo called it)......trans orange over chambered ash/ RW/ JJ/ passive.....really looking forward to this one......are there other "deviant" 34" Lakland 5ers out in the wild?
