That bass is SUPER VERSATILE! It SPANKS! That is an excellent platform for something entirely different IMHO! To be continued! I might try that platform with my own twist. JJ the mad scientist has started something. That bass is contagious.

I’ve had a Lakland 55-94 since January of 2000. I also currently own a Lakland 55-02 Skyline (Lined Fretless) There’s a difference between the Lakland pickups and preamp, but it’s not enough to write home about. The thing I notice the most is the convenience of having a separate battery compartment. Both are excellent in slightly different ways.

I could definitely try to do that, but it wouldn’t be an “identical” comparison as one is a lined fretless and has different strings.

Thought you guys would get a kick out of this!

The triplebucker made it into Patrick Hunter's "Show Me What You Bass" series where he shows off different basses from his viewers. So cool to see Carl's work get the recognition he deserves! Lot of cool basses in this series! He put me in at 9:05.

Thank you kindly - it plays beautifully, my first Lakie - they did a great set up at my local dealer, they have a very meticulous and talented luthier, it's really dialed in. Love the feel of the neck and variety of tones, and its very dynamic and punchy, love it. The satin finish on parts of the hardware is also nice. Came with roundwounds 130-55 - might move to slightly lighter gauge. Love it!

Could be. If I remember correctly, Skylines are P only from Lakland. Any J pickup would be done by the owner, if my memory is correct.

P pickup looks like it might be closer to the neck also. Pickguard could be hiding quite a lot of missing body wood.
