Just wondering if the two smaller knobs above the balance control are individual volumes for each pickup. I'm assuming that's what they are, but I've never seen that configuration before. Is it a custom preamp?
There is only one extra knob, which according to @Saluki is a passive tone control.
This is true. All standard controls except the edition of the PTC. So many tonal options.
I’ve got a Sadowsky metro with Sadowsky blue label steel strings on - they are nice
my 55-94 with older Bart pups currently has Lakland nickels on. They are fine but needing changing.
anyone stuck Sadowsky blue label on a 55-94/02 - how were they?
or recommend me something else for this bass. I normally like DR fatbeams so they are an option too if long enough

I have Fat Beams on my 55-02. They’re plenty long and I strung them through the body.
I know it’s all subjective but if your a DR rounds guy then consider trying a set of Dunlop Super Brights, I use the nickel version and they’re my new fave.
Well. FedEx got this to me last Sunday so I’ve now had the week to go over it, tweak it, and play a bit and it’s a winner. Could be brand new. Physically perfect and as fine a player of any Skyline I’ve owned. I don’t think the truss rod had ever been moved. It’s a 2019 55-02 Sweetwater special. I’m not sure of the group feeling on these big store special runs but this doesn’t seem to have any lesser features or parts from a standard 55-02, has the same USA pickups and LH-3 preamp. And a nicely figured quilt top. Pretty pleased.

as well as the sound and feel of DR I like the fact they seem to last me for ages (years in some cases) - how do they compare in how long they last? to be fair the Sadowsky blues also seem to last ages
The SS Super Brights last a long time to me. I don’t have grimy hands before I play, and most times, wipe the strings off after playing. My previous favorite were DR SS Low Riders.
Hey all, this may sound like a nitpicking question, but does anyone around here know what to officially call the Lakland Skyline DJ-4 Adam Clayton bass? Was there an official model number for this? I've seen it listed as the Lakland AC, Lakland DJ-4/AC, Lakland AC/DJ-4, Lakland (AC) DJ-4, Lakland AC-4.

I am not a crazy diligent string changer. I like a bouncy and modern sound and there's a certain liveliness I always look for and when that's about gone I know it's time to change. But my current set is about a year old and that with 3-4 well plyed live jobs a month. That's more than fine for me. I prefer them just a bit 'broken in' and not super zingy as I did with my DR. The 'super bright' is a tad inaccurate. But I love the sound, tension and feel.
I did, the standard 'Sadowsky style' metal knob set that I had in the drawer. I like 'em, but I have no dislike for the stock knobs either.

It's really just a natural DJ-4.
it was " unofficially" known as the "AC" amongst us LOGgers....but it was never official.
This was anticipated to be the first LOG bass but we couldn't decide on a 4 or 5 string so we couldn't get the minimal number of either required.
Lakland decided to make a batch anyways and they sold VERY VERY well. I think there were 3-4 runs (?)
