Lakland Owners Group #69

So over the last week or so I had this 2007 55-01 arrive:

Really lovely bass, fantastic neck! But unfortunately, just a bit heavy for me at 9.95lbs.
So that went back this week, kinda sad!

As part of a separate part-ex deal on my outgoing US 44-64 I've got this 55-02 Deluxe arriving with me tomorrow:

Looks like a lovely bass, but I'm 99% sure I'll be moving it on as it weighs 10.4lbs apparently.

I'm still very much hoping I can buy back my original 55-01 from the person I sold it to, but they're being very VERY slow at confirming that can happen after they floated the idea. I miss it haha!:

oh Si.

ever read love in the time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez? The saga of this bass reminds me a little of that.

Ha, this is why I always find out the weight now before buying. 9 lbs. is about my limit these days.

EBMM Cobalt Flats = THE ONLY FLAT for bright roundwound lovers!!

The 4 string EBMM Cobalt Flats sets have went up in price dramatically in the last 6 months or so, probably because of all the raving that some of us have been doing here on TB. I was paying around $28 shipped for both the 40-95 and 45-100 sets, on Ebay. I just bought another set 2 days ago, after the seller gave me a 5% discount, and w/ tax I paid $40. I can no longer say how much of a steal they are :-( but, they're still worth the new higher price.

That's unfortunate, but their still a really great string, and Thomastick Jazz Flats cost almost double that. My educated guess is that Cobalt has gone up in price once more. Just my take though.

New (to me) US Joe Osborn ca. 2015. Nice ebony fretboard. Looks like the e string nut is low. There's a mark on the fretboard just past the nut. I don't have any buzzing and action is set low. Sounds fine but looks like a new nut is in order.

looks like some of the skyline nuts I’ve had TBH. also, if you’re not getting any buzz and really low action might not want to mess with a good thing. Though on a high end bass like this I understand wanting aesthetic perfection as well. Let’s see the rest of it!
