Went thru all the mid settings on the LH-3 pre. Some interesting tones to be had. Funny thing is, I like the default setting best!

Thanks. I haven't seen this one anywhere and I've searched. There was one similar but with a rosewood board (JO579) from years ago but this is newer JO781. Gonna try it on a gig Friday. It's hard to walk by it without picking it up and playing it for an hour lol.

First off, Thank You for taking that time to do this experiment. I know this can be time consuming.

I still haven't had time to go through this like you did. I'm going to do this tho.

Just curious as to what you didn't like on the other settings on the switches and what tone you were after. The other poster said he got a more Ray sound at 275Hz.

I know this would take a long time to do but did you play around with either the tone controls on the Lakalnd or the amp tone controls or on both? Also which rig were you using when doing this? This would give many an idea of what to expect with bass amp combos along with strings.

When I sit down to do this I will be using both of my amps while running through both experiments, Carvin BX1500 and Mesa D800+ with Hartke HD210 and HD112 latest revs.

The lower mid settings definitely give you a rounder tone resulting in warmer sounds and is great for finger style playing.

Maybe now I won't have to get a Aguilar TH preamp for a warmer sound if my Lakland 55-02 can do this already on it's own! And this would be even better and a great surprise making the Laklands an even better deal! :)

IMO the TH and Lakland are an amazing combo, for warm round tones with just a touch of hi fi. The treble control on the lakland is amazing. the bass control on the lakland is equal but different to the TH. The TH mid blows away the lakland IMO.

Has anyone ever put a boutique-y p pick up in their 44-64? I was kind of toying with a kloppmann 63 p bass pickup.

I'm not even upset with the sound of the bass currently, it's very nice, but just figured I'd see if anyone really added a lot of mojo with something different.

Thanks, this is good info. I do have a Mesa D800+ that adds a touch of warmth that I like. I was going to get the Aguilar TH preamp to mate with my Crown XLS 2502 power amp. I already have a MXR 81 for the Fender Jazz and Ray4 for a slightly cleaner sound. Can always pick up a TH preamp if I determine I need one. I still need to play around with the Carvin and Mesa heads to see what I get out of them with my basses and cabs before jumping on to a TH preamp.
