Loving it! But I plan to go ahead and swap the stock pups and pre for some Bart MK5CBC pickups along with a Bart 5.2 A/P preamp.

Anyone here have experience with the MK5CBC pickups?
Got the MK5CBCs on the way.

Good choice. I'm torn over what to upgrade with. I listened to a clip of the Aggie DCB's with the obp-3 and it was really nice. Too many choices. I really like the Bart's and ChiSonics too. I can get great tones out of all of them. It will probably come down to the best price in the end.
The down side is that my 55-01 was shipped UPS. It just left Baton Rouge and I know will sit in a lot 10 miles from my house over the holiday weekend. Torture I tell you! Torture!

It's in Lake Charles, which is about 90 miles from the hub that delivers to my house. I have a feeling that it will go to Dallas before hitting the Houston area. If I can get it tomorrow, time will be tight. I have a 7:30 sound check tomorrow night.

Hmmmm....making me want a 5501 and modify it....wonder how those would sound with an lh3?

I have been on a quest for that perfect bass for me.. and I think I have gotten closer to that with the Lakland Skylines.. I like the form.. the necks are nice.. the weight is great. The only other basses that have hit me like that have been the MTD Kingstons and I am assuming that a U.S version of either brand would only be better than the oners I have. I have a Heir 5 that I was trying to sell but then I decided to keep it and upgrade the pre in it.. but then I discovered Laklands.. and now I am considering a 55-02. I haver seen several on Reverb, and here and eBay ... and I was wondering.. Given that I have a 55-01 with an LH3 installed.. and a split/dual coil switch for the pups... how much different will a 55-02 be compared to a 55-01 with the same pre?

Yeah that is what I am thinking.. I am also thinking that a Heir with a Audere PZ4 pre in it will sound quite different from a 55-02. I am really digging the Lakland.. the more I play it the more I like it. It feels good in my hands.. and I also have come to realize that I don't need a 24 fret bass. It's nice to have but for me it is not a necessity.

Hello guys, I have my USA 44-64 up for trade here on TB. So I'll ask you guys too. Im looking for a 44-51 single coil instead....My bass now is shore line gold 1.75neck rosewood neo punch and I got the brown lakland case cause lakland apparently ran out of white ones....Had 44-64 for a whopping 8 days...I just like single coil more nowadays. I used pu cover for my other bass and there is a small factory blemish while lakland was intonating the bass.

Never thought of that....I probably dont want to do that and ruin the bass...there are screw holes from pick guard.that's why a trade would be easier I thought...I mean I love the bass, but if a single coil 44-51 pops up I will def want it

Pull the plug on a JO5 3T Burst maple board...should be here next week. What pups do you recommend replacing the stock US lak pups? I've played two different DJ5 with the lak pups. One sounded nice, the other one wasn't so nice.

So, I went to the shop today...really just out of morbid curiosity. No intentions to do anything. I told Carl about this strange "Loaded" P bass body in Coral Pink I got from talkbasser Jedi Bass with no Lakland neck and an old unstamped Lakland bridge and Neo Punch Pickups. So I just brought it in.
He's like "What do you want to do with it?"
I said "Put a neck on it.....DUHHH!"

20 minutes later this happened:

Jazz width, quarter sawn maple neck, birdseye dots, and this rosewood fretboard with binding.

Some days are funny like that.
