I'm a sucker for blocks.

Me too! So much so, that all the basses I order, are ordered with blocks. I've used the vinyl stickers with some success, but it is just not the same. That being said, you might find a local luthier to add blocks to your neck. Depending on your location, I have a friend in Texas that added blocks to my Lull PJ5. Perfect in every way! He might be able to help...

I’m the same way about overthinking things… in this case it wasn’t a neck with blocks I was after specifically, nor am I looking for another Jazz. Really the negative feelings are about the sale itself, I do like the bass.

Bummer about the blocks, but it's a great looking bass and if you like the sound... I'd just let it go and play it. Or ask CME for a refund for the misleading listing.

At the end of the day I did get this bass to my door for <1k , so I am aware that I’m mostly whining about something good… but not MY way. I do still want a Gigbag… anyway, thank you all for entertaining my complaining (that rhymes)

Soooooo...I may have just went ahead and picked up an old Skyline Glaub of mine that I wanted back. I will post all about it when it shows up.

But because of that I really need to move that USA Lakin fretless on. If anyone here wants to help me out we can work out a really good deal. All USA made by one of the original Lakland techs. The flip side is taking it to Guitar Center. I know someone here wants an amazing fretless.

I just scored a new 44-02 deluxe satin cherry sunburst, roasted maple neck and stock, rosewood fingerboard. I pick it up on Monday. Although I have a 55-02 deluxe in quilted honey burst, the 44-02 felt so nice and played so well, subtle differences in feel and sound with the rosewood fretboard. I put my 2019 Fender Jazz Bass Pro fretless up for sale - since I bought my first Lakland, it just doesn't get played much anymore. My 55-02 is so inspiring to play and record with - although the new 44-02 will be familiar in many respects, I can't wait to play and record with that one too! Go Lakland!

I never really realized that Lakland stopped making the original hollowbody. Things I wish Lakland would do:

• offer a 50's single coil in that Skyline 51 vs the standard P pickup
• offer a Skyline Decade with dots. I guess maybe I just need to eventually get a USA Decade.

I got a 44-01 today and I have to say, I'm really surprised at Chicago Music Exchange. The Ad on Reverb called the below "blocks"...

...and being my first Lakland, I bit. Wasn't until a fellow TBer pointed it out that I realized that you can see the dots through the stickers. I dug the look, and it was already purchased, so I decided to wait and see…

Well, it showed up today and it turns out that the supposed "blocks" looked like A$$, and a couple even had corners coming up! I spent two hours before plugging it in finger-nail-ing and scrubbing with lemon oil to get those stickers off, and now...

The knobs look pretty great though \_(",)_/

UPDATE: I complained about the false advertising and David A who I was communicating with, is going to send me a gig bag. Cool of them to make it up to me and I recommend Chicago Music Exchange as a solid place to buy an instrument

Has anyone put flatwounds on a 44-02? If so how did you like them? I have a set of EB Cobalt flats sitting in a draw. I thought maybe it might tame the tone a bit.

Have played those on one of JEDI’s basses. Has a nice round wound tone. Bright sounding flat, I liked them. Go for it.
