Lakland Owners Group #69

In reality I think it was a cherry burst which made me call Dan and request the original 5502 AMBER run.

If I remember correctly we had amber north, amber south, amber midwest, amber East and several countries represented.

I could have one bass back that I sold, that might be it. Of course there's always Tabby....

And maybe a few others but I do regret getting rid of amber.

Especially since it was I that made that run happen.

I’ve had my DJ5 for about 6 weeks and it’s easily the best 5 string I’ve owned in over 30 years of having a 5.

It’s a 2010. Originally had a black pickguard on it. I think my LOG (with replacement neck) is from 2009. I don’t know if that’s accurate or not. When was the LOG run again?

2010....and yes there was a run of burst P5s....they did not have the LOG serial numbers however.

I know there was a run of at least 20-25 of the LOG Basses and 20-25 or so of the burst basses.

As such, there are at least 40 out there.

They do seem to be a popular bass. I love playing mine.

I have talked to the people at Lakland about possibly starting up the 5564 bass but they said there is not enough demand to make it profitable.

Based on what I see here I find that hard to believe.

It would be interesting to try to track all of them down.

People that play them seem to love them and want to keep them.

I can tell you that the B string is much much better than the fender equivalent

Before Lakland, I had a Squier Vintage Modified P5 that was better than the Fender P5. The guy I sold it to sold his Fender after buying mine.

My burst P5 had a black pickguard on it that I replaced with the tort. I may need to put it back on because it looked pretty killer with it.

5564 aside, did you get any further with a new LOG bass idea?
I know there were a few specs being floated around, a passive 44-PJ (similar to my custom) being one of them I think.

Beautiful.. wish I had known about these when they were out. I happened by luck to get mine from a fellow TB'er. Would love a have a Burst with flats. And yes but the black pick guard back on!

Yes, put black back on! That looks soo good and I’m not a P guy but I’d play that!

Yeah. I really should. My original intent was to go with a tort guard and then swap the rosewood neck from my 55-01 only to find that the Lakland necks are not a universal swap as the Korean made 55-01 did not come even remotely close to fitting. Then I just got lazy and neglected to swap the guard back. :laugh:
