Lakland Skyline quality

Come on by, you know we enjoy having you. I'm sure you'll be pleased with the Skyline decade. It really is pretty darn close to the US.

Hey Billy?

Thanks for all the information.

Some people around here (myself included) can never get enough Lakland information...

Two questions for you, what is the current status on the P5 and when is it going to hit the market (US and Skyline)?

Er, graphite rods ARE installed in the necks!:D Sorry if you were misinformed. The upside is you should now be complaint free!
hmmm... i thought only the American series got the graphite. hmmm indeed.
well, my problem still remains, but my complaint has gone. seems my problem is more the user than the bass.
good to know.
and nice mass post atttack, Billy!

I have been using Us Laklands since 2000 (55-94 and 4-94 dlx) excellent basses.
January 2008 I ordered a US BG with J/P trough a dealer in US, for use on a upcoming July august tour Still at end of November its a no show. So I bought a Fender for the time being as the demand was to play a "Fender type bass" for these shows.
Lakeland have not given me any reason for this. I had to pay the dealer $1500 deposit.
How long do you guys think is a reasonable time to wait. ( The dealer promised me delivery by June 2008) Any advice on how I can get out of this deal without being a grumpy customer. I buy a bass cause I have a genuine use for it. The great Lakland customer care has been absent for my part so far.

that's rough. I think you've waited more than a reasonable amount. Have you contacted Lakland yet? If not, I would do that. 6 months over is unacceptable.

5 sting Skylines have graphite rods, 4 sting Skylines do not.

My apologies, I had been bouncing back and forth between this thread and an 01 thread and got confused. I thought I was posting regarding a 55-01. Sorry for the misinformation. Even though it was 1:30 am CST, I can never use that as an excuse!!! :hiding: :ninja: :smug:

Thanks to all of those standing in the gap and answering w/ the correct answer.

In the past, Lakland offered more color selections for the Skyline products. The colors that have remained part of the lineup were more consistant sellers. Let's face it, not everyone is dying for that Candy Apple Red DJ5, or that Inca Silver 44-01 (both phased out of production)! Maybe in the future increased demand will aid in the addition of newer colors!

AMEN to that...also - Lakland has committed to one "special" or unique "limited edition" colorfor the skylines each year...a couple of years ago it was AMBER deluxe (my suggestion hrumf!) and this year it was "kind of" the natural DJ with black blocks......

you will soon be able to vote for the 2009 color at:

we are still working out the details so EVERYONE can vote.....

As it stands, the price point will not be affected by this change. In lieu of the recent sharp economic down turn I am proud to say that Lakland has not raised the price on the product, nor sacrificed quality. I can also report that no employees have been sacrificed either (no layoffs).

This doesn't mean that Dan and company are making a killing, it means that Dan Lakin really cares, not only about his product, but the people who build it as well. These are just a few reasons why it is a pleasure to work at Lakland. Believe me, as some here can attest, I do not make that comment litely. I'm not a person that normally drinks the company Kool-Aid. I was a customer long before becoming an employee. It was this atttude of sincerity that had me decide to become a Lakland employee. Dan and the rest of the crew are really a great bunch of guys. Uh, don't tellem I said that, they might think I'm goin soft! :smug:

A MASSIVE THANK YOU for such commentary from an "insider".........I 100% agree.....anyone only has to visit the shop once to see how Dan and the rest of the gang work.....it is not the "nicest" place in town but it ALWAYS feels like home when you visit...even if it is the first time!!!

That doesn't seem like too much of an oddball though the PJ might make it take a little longer because it is a different route and is a bit of custom order. I stick by my original statement, I would definitely get a refund from the dealer if you can't continue to wait. I know if given the chance Dan and Crew will take care of you! Have you talked to Brian or John or anybody directly at Lakland? I am not insinuating anything at all, but I do know of at least one dealer who would get deposits and never place the order...I would confirm with Lakland that they actually have it and get their take on the delay...Good Luck and let us know how it turns out.

Peace,

T

+10000 - get a refund...the dealer SHOULD have told you that US Laklands are 8 (or so) months wait.....also - as Tom said, at least one dealer was not forwarding orders to Lakland.......call/e-mail Dan @ [email protected] or brian @ [email protected] to get a clear picture of where your bass is.....they WILL respond...
