Lead Guitarist a Weasel...

Ok- Devils advocate here- Where exactly were you going to play with 12 songs?
First off, there are plenty of tribute band nights at bars where a 12 song set is welcomed...especially for a new band.
More importantly.. the OP clearly states that they had about a dozen songs, some of which were not tight yet. His issue with the d-bag was that he was wanting to add more songs before having the first 12 down which implies a lower standard. There was nothing stated that suggests anybody wanted ONLY 12 songs.

My last lead guitarist was a major egotistical Jerk. I was even warned by his former bassist about him, but I am always one to give someone a chance. <- Big mistake. One time during a guitar solo in a song the singer comes up to and tells me to go over by the guitarist and jam out with him, so I did so. After the song ended the guitarist comes up to me and chews me out and tells me to never come by him during a solo because I'm in his spotlight. The singer heard this and never said that he told me to. Just one of many stories I could share about these losers. The whole band was a bunch of jerks. Really left a bad taste in my mouth for bands and pretty much lead to my retirement from bands and gigging...

Ok- I had played with plenty of bands that NEVER got past 12 songs, because they had to be just perfect. They never gigged either.

Actually, we don't know how much time was spent by the three before it became five. OP ignored that question from me a page back.
Didn't ignore anything Pal, didn't see it.
The three of us got together twice before she mentioned bringing him in....
Happy?

And you need to recognize the fluidity of the English language allows it to adopt its surroundings. Weasle is as weasle does. Nobody is walking around talking about striped weasles at the water cooler.
Oh save me. What your omniscient? Know every water cooler conversation ever. I'll have you know just the other day Max Vanderberg III, head of corporate, came up to us at the cooler, not only addressing the issue of stripes, spots, and biological sized parts of weasels, he also inserted himself into the conversation as only a weasel could.
Just kidding, however, i love the "weasel is as weasel does" and think i'll have my wife make me a shirt with that saying. If we sell some, i'll throw you a commission.

Different band members have different aspirations.
What I hear, is the guitarist wants the group to spend money, yes it takes money to operate a band. If nothing else, you need copies of the new music. (Is someone going to fax the copies at work?)
To me, band means partnerships, and the need for a business model and therefore liabilities.
Before, forming a band, I think the group needs to jam a few times, work over a limited group of songs, and find out if they are compatible with one another. I believe a band is a highly personal relationship, and needs to be treated as such.
I would write all people involved and make the statement. "The group is not ready to form the personal relationship necessary to form a band. It probably too late, but next time, you are looking on forming a group to play music, Discuss the personal relationships that bands require.
Always ask what is what is it going to cost me?

Yup! This is one of the dumbest threads ever. However, it was saved by the introduction of Tuna Noodle Casserole. Does anyone else like mustard in their TNC?

The guitarist is a doosh, I would have quit too. Place an ad for a Pretenders band and start over. Call the band "The Betenders".
I consider tuna cat food, and stay away from tuna, besides that mustard, shorts out the wires in the tuna.

Some musicians can learn a new song in minutes. Some take much longer. Which one are you? It doesn't matter. You guys should have agreed on a specific progression rate of new songs being added. No one is interested in booking a tribute band that can play 8-10 songs of that band, unless maybe you were a Europe tribute band. Then you really only need to learn one song :smug:

"Carrie" right?
