The Stones are Mr Pibb here, inasmuch, as the Late Mitch Hedberg said, “dude didn’t even get his degree”.

It’s no contest. There has simply never been another band with the perfectly evolving body of work that the Beatles compiled. While (IMO) they had more incredible songs on any given single album than the Stones have in their entire ongoing discography, its impressively significant that they created this timeless and unparalleled body of work the while only in their 20’s. An entire lifetime of incredible music (a true textbook example of musical evolution) start to finish, in the span of less than a decade. The Beatles are the single greatest example of a band that has ever existed. No contest.

The Beatles had a brilliant 10 years then crashed and burned in spectacular rock'n'roll lawsuit style. The Stones have been going nearly 60 years, long enough to become complete parodies of their earlier selves.

The Beatles have the "was Paul replaced" theory, the Stones have the "was Brian murdered" theory.

If I compare The Beatles' 1969 rooftop gig and The Stones' 2013 Glastonbury performance, I'd definitely prefer The Beatles.

Anyway John Lennon wasn't in The Stones.

Funny you mention Glastonbury. I just watched a clip and wished I hadn't. God bless 'em, they have every right to go on and on, but there is also something to be said for the Beatles getting in and out before they were 30 and leaving that legacy. I'll stick to the records and my memories.
