Let's spread some musical misinformation

Bits and pieces of a story about Leo's other invention, the electric bass banjo, start leaking from their secret hiding place. The instrument was based on a small kick drum, double bass strings and a broomstick like neck. The prototype produced brown notes at a level, so high that they could be heard in Washington. From that moment on the governement took over...

It takes approximately 4,872 roses (give or take 2), or 23.79 lbs of them (give or take 1/16th an ounce), to have enough rose to compress into a slab shape large enough to provide the basis for a "Rosewood" bass. This intense compression of fibrous plant-matter is why Rosewood is so dense and heavy.

Of course, the same process is used to make rosewood necks and fingerboard blanks. Currently, Holland is the largest supplier of "Rosewood" to the luthier industry — not India, nor Brazil, as is commonly believed.

I've recently ordered a Dingwall made entirely of Alberta Wild-Rosewood. :hyper: However, the Alberta Wild-Rose is much smaller than mainstream commercially grown roses, so Sheldon and his gang are still gathering enough to make my bass. Should only be a few more springs before my Alberta Wild-Rosewood colour-matched Dingwall blossoms in all its glory... in Saskatchewan! :bassist:

It was Kim Young Ill who dictated that a bass should be built from wood, have four strings tuned to EADG and have a scale length of 34".
Later he added some silly rules.
- A bass should only be played by a certified bassist,
- Soloing was not allowed, as a bassist had to be supportive,
- A bassist should at least drink a gallon of beer every day,
- Picking was strictly prohibited,
- Lefties were to be emprisoned and
- Mothers of bassists had to be virgins.

From the Too Funny thread ^

- A bass should only be played by a certified bassist,
✓ I've been certified, well, maybe not as a bassist, but certainly certified... :wacky:
- Soloing was not allowed, as a bassist had to be supportive,
✓ I HATE soloing, 'cause I don't know how. :bassist:
- A bassist should at least drink a gallon of beer every day,
✓ Happy to do so. Uh, is this in addition to the 2-3 gallons I'm already drinkin'? Do shandies count? :woot:
- Picking was strictly prohibited,
✓ I only pick at my scabs, never my bass.
- Lefties were to be emprisoned and
✓ I should be a lefty, but luckily was forced to play Righty. ;)
- Mothers of bassists had to be virgins.
?✓? If I kill my older sister and brother, then I'm good... right? :ninja:

************* IMPORTANT MEDICAL NEWS ALERT ***************

If you are an older bass player who has a pacemaker installed in your chest (or a young bass player with pacemaker for whatever reason), you absolutely have to avoid ALL true-bypass pedals – use only BUFFERED pedals, as your life may depend on it.

Due to electro-magneto-intraference between the pedal and pacemaker, your pacemaker might switch your pedals on and off, off and on unintentionally, but that's the least of your worries 'cause it can work the other way! – You do not want to stomp off your true-bypass digital delay or whatever and in so doing inadvertently stop your heart!

Use BUFFERED pedals, to make sure a strong signal always goes through your pacemaker and heart!

Otherwise True-bypass...
