Sometime in the early Eighties, Linda Ronstadt went back to Blue Bayou. In a fit of nostalgia she drank a bottle of bubbly and went skinny-dipping. The sultry chanteuse was almost immediately busted and charged with being drunk and disorderly, and for exposure in a public place, and was thrown into the lock-up.
As luck would have it, the Big O had also been smitten with a yearning to go back to Blue Bayou, and was in the area at the time. When he heard of Linda's plight he immediately rocked in to town and bailed her out on the promise of doing a private show that evening for the Sheriff and his friends. When the show was over, to celebrate, Linda and Roy bade the cops farewell and went on a huge bender that lasted four days.
Believe it or not, the very pickled pair ended up, stone motherless broke, on a little beach in Tortuga and neither could remember how they actually got there. This, however, is no defense.
They were both arrested and charged with piracy on the high seas. A beached yacht in their vicinity was used by the prosecution to gain a conviction. Linda's fingerprints were found all over the helm and both sets of prints on numerous empty rum bottles strewn about the deck did not help their case.
