Let's spread some musical misinformation

Desert music never caught on the same way surf music did.

A rival group called the The Desert Boys was formed to start the trend in 1963 but they got lost in the Sonora and were never heard from again.

"Ride,Ride,Ride the Wild Sand" was a one hit wonder some time later by another group:- "The Saharas "

"Sand City USA " was another attempt at the charts that went nowhere.

A movie was made called "Sandblanket Bingo" ..but fizzled.

Metallica tried to revive the genre decades later with the song "Enter Sandman". A hit song for them but did nothing for desertheads or the desert movement.
That's why Cactus was never a huge success. After they disbanded, they tried to revive it with The New Cactus Band, but it never really made it, either.

After Gretsch asked Fender to stop making "Broadcaster" guitars, Fender switched to producing "Nocasters" - but not before finishing up a few transitional "Maybecasters".

The entire line was originally x-castor, rather than x-caster. Castor, of course is latin for beaver and the line was so named for the beaver pelts that lined the cases. The P in P bass, everyone assumed stood for Precision but in reality was for the Pelts in the case.

Employees at the old Fender factory were required to drink Castor oil at the end of every shift, so that when they came in to work the next day they were bright, chipper and ready to go with no production delays.

If you played bass for years and never made any money or received recognition, there is still hope.

Open a cafe.

If your name is Fred , call it Fred's Bass Cafe. If your name is Jim, call it Jim's Bass Cafe. Etc etc.

Don't sell your basses . Use them as wallhanger decor. Get everybody that comes in to sign them with a sharpie so you'll appear to be famous.

Come up with a specialty burger ( with names such as "The 4 Stringer", "The Neck Diver", for example..) and you're good to go.

You will need to charge $28.95 for the burger. This puts you on the map.

People have little respect for a run-of-the-mill $3.00 burger.

Have some background music playing at all times. Far and away, the most popular genre everywhere is Death Metal.

A simple test for the right sound level:- have someone stand three feet in front of you and
keep turning up the volume dial until you can see their lips moving but can't understand a word they're saying.

Because of this the waitresses will learn to take customer orders by simply getting them to
point to the item on the menu and raising the right number of fingers for quantity.

The song which was most requested when Louis played was "Over the hills and far away" He made a very good living with this tune, because people would ask him all the time if he could play it, and his response was always "Oui, pour dix Francs".

People were always willing to give him "dix Francs" to play "Over the hills and far away."
The term "solo" was coined at the time when he was usually ask to play "so low" that we can't hear you.

You may in fact be the best bass player in the world and not even know it..

How do you know if you are?

Somehow you just know...it's a feeling you get unlike any other. One day you wake up and it's like you're on a whole new level of reality.

It's difficult to put into words but once you experience it , your life will never be the same again.
Hey, this thread is for spreading musical MISinformation, not fact.
