Never tune strings to other notes than the intended one. If you tune an E string to D it'll get confused. As a result it'll be out of tune all the time, trying to get back to E.

You should never use open strings and when tuning, tuning should be done at the 5th fret.
When you fret a string, you increase tension on it changing the tuning. If you tune open strings all your notes will be out of tune.

Trying to make a trumpet played soft sound good is hard. Trying to make a trumpet played loud sound loud is loud.

I have been playing the strazoo for years, but I have found that it is hard to get gigs. I wonder if I am using the wrong strazoo for metal.
