Let's spread some musical misinformation

If you have round strings on your bass and would like to try flats but don't want to spend money on something you might not like, you can simply convert your rounds to flats by sanding down the top of each string while it's on your bass.

And now for an inside tip that will make you're life easier - if you've sanded your strings down to flats but find that you have a build up of metal filings on your pickups, don't panic. Simply turn your bass off. The pickups will instantly demagnetize and you can then turn your bass face down and give it a shake. The filings will fall right off.

...To make pressure wounds you pass strings through an old fashioned mangle after putting new life in them by boiling them

Bass strings are not really made of string. Many people think they are which is why they buy or order 'strings'.

You can get bass strings that are made of string. But they only last half an hour. You still have to make the choice between rounds or flats and they can only be used with piezo pickups.
Didn't you know that you have to order special magnetic string?

Boiling bass strings on a gas stove will produce a profoundly different effect than boiling them on an electric stove.
TIP: Don't throw away the liquid when you are done. It can be used as stock for a hearty soup or stew.

No, you should use the broth to refill the reverb tank in your amp. Just pour it into the little hole marked "phones", as phones is latin for refill. Some manufacturers use the greek aux instead of phones. If the amp has both the broth should be divided equally between them.

Guitar pickups rarely need degaussing, but because of the higher gauge strings, bass pickups should be degaussed at least weekly. Degaussing is best done with a sharp blow. To prevent damage to the bass, it is best done by dropping it on a singer's foot or whacking a keyboardist in the head.
...But all instruments with magnetic pickups should be 100% degaused, before using them on the opposite hemisphere. Otherwise huge feedback will destroy your gig.
