Kibble, milkbones, and P Basses. And redheads.
Roundwounds are actually made from roundworms; flatwounds from flatworms and tapewounds from tapeworms.
Which is why some bass playing is called "tasty".

Alice Cooper didn't realize that Christopher and Bruce Lee were related when he covered Christopher's big hit "Red Rubber Dinosaur".Bruce Lee actually recorded all of David Lee Roth's vocals on every Van Halen album...
Check out that middle name.
If basses are to be thrown into the fire, then compare different makes. The one burning the longest has most sustain.
Fixed that for you.
Does tort burn? (Or does it just sting a little?Fixed 100%.
)Back in the 50s before Edison invented amplification, here's how folks would enjoy a concert; drummer would set up at the back of the stage, the guitarist and bass player would rest their solid body instruments on a plank of Oak that extended fully into the audience. Ideally it was a 2"X16"X as long as possible. The audience members would sit facing the stage in 2 single rows on either side of the plank (back then called the soundboard). When the show started the patrons would tilt their heads to come in contact with the board, which resonated notes from the players. It was an imperfect system, but common practice from when Les Paul Jones invented the solid body in 1774, or 5. One day Edison, who had an ear infection from a swim over at Shattin Pond, was just in too much pain to tilt his head for the duration of that performance, decided to skip out and fiddle about with winding up what turned out to be the first pickup! Rock~N~Roll was born that day and Ol' Ampy, as he was affectionately called thereafter, earned his place in the annals of music history!

Does it burn? If you grind down tort to a fine powder, you get rocket fuel.Does tort burn? (Or does it just sting a little?)

Bassists go on strike for Tortage (short for tort shortage). That's why bassists must campaign against a mission to Mars, as it will lead to a worldwide tort shortage.
I definitely knew this, and always thought it strange they didn't go with blue uniforms. Would have made more sense than the whiter shade of pale ones they wore. The former hockey team the New England/Hartford Whalers of the WHA & NHL was not named after the people of the whaling industry--but it was a misspelling referring to blues Wailers.
But Mars has the largest tort deposits in the universe which they will mine and bring back to Earth to be refined. That's why bassists must campaign against a mission to Mars, as it will lead to a worldwide tort shortage.

I'm not sure that is misinformation.Tort was inspired by a puked out pizza.
The trussrod of a bass controls sustain.
The trussrod of a bass controls sustain.
More specifically, it reduces sustain. Without a trussrod, a note would last up to an hour, creating the problem that, after the set, you still need to stand there for up to an hour until the last note decays.
Plus, the tighter the trussrod, the more effort it takes to get a note out of that bass. The mechanical energy of the string vibration will then be converted to heat and gamma rays. The amount of audio decay is directly related to the truss rod's radioactive decay rate. Air (a nitrogen truss rod) is better than lead, but produces far less decay than uranium.
Further on the trussrod, it also is used as an antenna for wireless stage systems.
