As an effect, reverb should be used very sparingly with a bass guitar. In fact it is supposed to be limited to just about three months out of the year (March, April and May), it's called a spring reverb for a reason!

Rarely does the bassline in rock music contain a major of a chord. It’s a historic oversight. Nobody ever thought to do it.
