Let's spread some musical misinformation

Gibson has designed a signature Chuck Mangione Les Paul, however, license discussions are not progressing well as Paul Reed Smith and Schecter have both made competing offers.
In the late 70s, Gibson's QC problems combined with early, ill-fated ideas to expand into the "lifestyle" market. The model intended to appeal to leisure boat owners was known as the Chuck Overboard Les Paul.

Well, the heavier ones are already described as boat anchors, so they may as well see employment as actual boat anchors. It's the best way to downcycle a Gibson that has had its headstock come off. Also known as a 'Les Paul'.

What is the best boat anchor for metal?

Fender Technical representatives demonstrate the proper method of obtaining back bow on a bass or guitar neck…

They recommend performing this task at least annually and checking for proper neck bow with each string change. Fender has qualified technicians in various weights available to perform this task for registered owners. Call 1-800-Fmy-neck for your free adjustments.

Gibson company has a similar service for their instrument necks.
Here is one of their qualified technicians performing what they call “a Bow Job”…

The Gibson Bow Job is generally performed by a lighter technician than Fender uses, mostly due to the comparatively less robust headstock design. However, it’s essentially the same process albeit with a bit more finesse. Note the pinpoint accuracy of the single foot approach and the specific fine tuning balance arrived at with the technician hand positions. There are hours of rigorous training that go into preparing a Gibson tech to be qualified in Bow Jobs. Gibson recognizes this is precision work and clearly states that it should only be performed by a qualified technician. Many owners have found out the hard way, with broken headstocks, that self performing a bow job isn’t a good idea. To get your free Gibson Bow Job simply call 1-800-Bow-meee.

The picture is incorrect. It is clearly a fender neck.

The picture is of Leo Fender's younger brother Billy who was attempting to start a career as a "neck dancer". Neck dancing never took off as an art form and as a result Billy ended up destitute until he was adopted by a family of peanut farmers. He eventually gained the fame he desired as the brother of President Jimmy Carter.

Selmer in the UK offers a fine-tuning and service on 0800-Blow-mee. Not to be confused with Gibson. Or other, er, services.
