Line 6 HX Effects

I haven’t had a chance to get into the Aftershock yet. I found one sound I really like and didn’t have time to mess with it any more. :(
Hopefully this weekend.

So right now in my very time-limited life I’m trying to learn the HX, Aftershock, and Future Impact. Along with fitting them together with my Cali76 CB. I’m hoping this will be my do-everything board.
I wish the send-return was a single block, so I could swap pedal order in my presets.

Haha, all I can advise is to take your time, my friend. Sounds like you have a lot of nights of gear tweaking ahead of you.

Make that a third Cali76 CB owner here, too. The Helix just couldn't unseat it, it sounds far too goddamn good.

I just started running 2 rigs with the HX. One dirty, one clean. It’s so much fun! I’m still trying to figure out exactly what I want going to each amp though. That’s the tricky part. There are so many options it’s hard to focus on what I want where. It sounds so good though. My clean is my Peavey Musician into a Fender Bassman 410 and my dirty is the Electric into the GK Neo 410. So so gooooo

Dual rigs is where it's at!
Love mine and was wondering if I'll keep it once I go HX. But I'm so used to it that I most likely will. Having an always-on clean signal is better than any blend and the spatial "depth" of two rigs is it's own thing that I really don't want to give up. To me it's worth the hassle of the extra gear.

I seem to have discovered a bug in 2.6. Wonder if anyone else can replicate?

Ticket as submitted to Line6 support:

I have one preset with a Wah block and a second preset with a Whammy block. I am using a Roland EV-5 expression pedal to control both. If I power on the unit with the Wah preset selected, wah functions fine. If I then switch to the Whammy preset, the whammy does not work. Switching back to the Wah preset the wah no longer works. Power cycling the unit allows the Wah to function again. The same behavior happens when selecting the Whammy preset, power cycle, whammy works, switch to wah preset, no wah function, switch back to whammy and no more whammy. All other blocks in both presets that are configured for latching pedal effects work as expected for both presets at all times.

Following up on my own comment:

I got a reply back from support last week that basically said, "weird. never seen that. probably pedal incompatibility get a L6 or MissEng pedal." I held off until 2.7 was out hoping maybe it would resolve my problem. It did not. I even created new presets from scratch with just a Wah and a Whammy block in each. Switching between the two still loses the Exp pedal. Guess i'll have to either pick one effect to use in the HX and put my old Wah or Whammy in a loop, or bite the bullet on a Mission Engineering pedal to find out if it really is a "pedal incompatibility".

Yeah, I dig the tuner. More pleasing to the eyes too.

Hey, so how would I run a DI if I’m running a duel rig with the HX. I’m running the amps out of the main out and out of one send.

How would run 1 DI? Or can I? Would I need 2 of them?

Good point. If one could run 2 separate DIs out of the HX that would allow for some very interesting FX routing options. Not the least of which would be "stereo on demand"!

Yeah this whole duel rig thing has always been something I wanted. But always felt I didn't NEED it. But I am wanting to try it with a band, see what it's all about. Hopefully I can try soon enough. I have a feeling I'm gonna love it though.

I have the LT so maybe its just me, but if the HX Effects had amp/cabs I would definitely choose the HX Effects over the Stomp! I'm fine for now and the tuner update let me finally take a tuner off my board which frees up a little more space

Me too, I picked up an HXFX a couple weeks ago and I could have returned it for a HX Stomp.
But I'm thinkin the HXFX is a better choice for me with the scribble strips and more switches.
The main thing I didn't like about the stomp is that little screen, hell I don't think I could
even really see that thing while playing if I needed to.

I'm in the process of building a board for mine with just the HXFX, expression pedal and
a stereo Radial JDI. I'm still in the layout process right now.
Here's a pic of what I'm thinking and testing (may not need the tuner now with 2.7-

If we put the amps and cabs in HX Effects right now, we'd sell fewer HX Effects.

I understand what you're saying, but man it would be so nice to have just one or two
bass amps in there so it could be kept as compact as possible for gigging without
having to add a separate preamp pedal. Look I'll pay you for it, what the hey!:D:)
No seriously I would!

I'm still really liking this box either way....but I'll still add a please....

Hey has anyone had any luck with this HX Edit new Marketplace Support thing??? It says to click "my account" in the lower left hand corner of HX Edit....but I don't see where that is....anyone?....anyone?....cause I don't see it...
You are probably still running the 2.6 version of HX Edit. Go to the downloads website and download HX Edit 2.7 . That is separate from updating your HX flash memory. Then you click my account, log in, and then click again and you will see "Get more Presets" and "Get more IRs".

Updated to 2.70 last night, can't dive in to test til Friday night :sour:

Side note, I'm really on a Cave In kick at the minute and interested in trying to achieve that Caleb Scofield tone. I'm guessing the Obsidian is the way to go, but could anyone suggest some settings to point me in the direction?

I don't totally understand the process here, but it sounds awesome. Sound clips?
A day has passed, I reviewed the patch I made and as usual I am really unhappy with it. :D
Here's some terrible noodling:

However I still think I'm on the right path, I'll just have to break out my usual bass and tweak the octaver's mid boost frequency accordingly to get rid of the woollyness.
